Rift turned into a massive collapse as General Hospital's Brook Lynn and Chase's marriage fell apart and the couple signed their divorce papers. After months of agony and much back-and-forth, the deed was finally done in the Dominican Republic.

They also agreed to a 50/50 custody of their recently adopted daughter, Phoebe. However, fans saw both Detective Chase and his wife reminiscing about their happy past and regretting the fallout. The final nail in the coffin is the divorce, which may be the start of more drama and chaos.

5 Ways Brook Lynn and Chase Made a Blunder

1) Neither desired a divorce, and both are anguished about it

After months of strain and distress, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) decided to finally give up on her marriage. This was after her husband, Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard), suspected her of spreading fake news. He continued to believe Congresswoman Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) innocent of all crimes when he was not ready to forgive his wife's small mistake of hitting a guardrail.

However, at the time of their divorce, both BLQ and Chase admitted that they were left with no choice. They claimed that neither could work out their irreconcilable differences, and a formal separation with shared custody of their baby seemed the best option. However, after the divorce, Chase was seen sobbing alone on the beach, while a grief-stricken Brook Lynn reminisced about their good times. Evidently, neither Chase nor BLQ was happy with this turn of events.

2) They let the Willow factor spoil genuine love

As their divorce was finalized, the couple regretted having to make this decision. This once again underlined the genuine love they had for each other, as longtime viewers have seen in the past. Unfortunately, they let Willow come between them.

Chase trusted Willow to be an innocent victim even though none of the people connected to Willow believed her innocence. While Willow took advantage of Chase's faith in her, Brook Lynn understood the congresswoman's scheme. Brook Lynn tried to frame Willow in a fake allegation, but came clean to her husband about her actions and her insecurities. However, Willow continued to retain Chase's trust as his own marriage fell apart.

3) Divided family may affect Phoebe negatively

After years of desiring to complete their family with a baby, Brook Lynn and Chase recently adopted baby Phoebe. They faced many setbacks before that, including Chase's medical infertility and Brook Lynn's teenage pregnancy revelation. However, they overcame all issues and together helped a pregnant Delilah (Lily Cardone) give birth to Phoebe. After Delilah's death, they fostered the baby before adopting her.

However, their divorce would give Phoebe a broken home, something neither Chase nor Brook Lynn wanted. While they have equal co-parenting rights with 50/50 custody, it would still affect Phoebe negatively, since she would no longer be raised in a loving family.

4) They allowed external meddling to influence them

As mentioned before, Chase let Willow manipulate him and take advantage of his trust in her. This ultimately destroyed his marriage and broke his family. However, Willow was not the only external factor that broke the most stable marriage in the Quartermaine mansion. The two Quartermaine members, Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliott) and Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson), were the other two factors that encouraged this separation.

On one hand, Michael deliberately pushed Chase towards Willow to expose the latter as part of his revenge. On the other hand, Tracy decided to protect her granddaughter from a bigger heartbreak and urged BLQ to cut ties with Chase forever. Chase and Brook Lynn's bond could not withstand so much interference in their marriage.

5) Chase's hypocrisy and Brook Lynn's weakness

As fans already know, Chase viewed Willow as a victim and continued to refute any allegations against her. However, he held Brook Lynn to a much higher standard. While he forgave Willow for cheating on him in the past, he walked out on Brook Lynn for keeping her whereabouts a secret from him during Jordan Ashford's (Tanisha Harper) accident. However, Chase refused to acknowledge this hypocrisy, and divorced his wife without realizing his double standards.

On the other side, to fit into the frame of Chase's ideal woman, Brook Lynn has been suppressing her fire and tamed her spirit. Fearful of losing Chase, she tried multiple ideas, including giving her Deception shares to Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) in exchange for help in framing Willow. Later, when she encountered her husband's allegations towards her, Brook Lynn let her grandmother convince her to end her marriage.
