General Hospital fans thought they might lose Molly and Cody this week when Molly told her mother about a job offer in Chicago. Alexis encouraged her to tell Cody, who was willing to move with her. In the end, they decided to stay put, but the Cody had to really think about his PC ties when Molly brought them up. And it got fans thinking he needs to do more than just groom Quartermaine horses.
5 Reasons Cody Deserves to Expand His Horizons on GH
1) Explore his legacy roots and family connections

As GH fans already know, Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) is the son of Mac Scorpio (John J. York). With such an iconic Scorpio family legacy behind him, he is expected to see more action. However, his early conman past has had him stuck to the sidelines for a long time.
On his maternal side, he recently met his half-sibling, Serena Baldwin (Kelly Kruger), who is in town. The siblings connected for the first time and discussed family affairs. Since Serena is involved in the Deception chaos, which is slated to blow up, as the war between Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) and Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) escalates, Cody is expected to play a role in it.
2) Move beyond the Quartermaine mansion storylines

In the past few months, the members of the Quartermaine family have been bringing their own brand of drama. The Qs are gearing up for a sad break up of Brook Lynn's (Amanda Setton) marriage with Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard). Also, the Quartermaine heir, Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) is looking to punish his betraying wife.
At the same time, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) is trying to lead a civilian life, while his twin, Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) is planning to destroy the Q-family. In all this family drama, Cody has little role to play. He needs to move away from this drama-packed family to play out his own arc, even if Tracy tries to stop him.
3) Exploit his romantic connection in new settings

Cody's romance with Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) develop through various odds. Initially, it was Molly's sister who intervened and tried to ruin their romance. After Cody's honest disclosure, they slowly opened their hearts to each other. However, Molly's health complications from endometriosis troubled the new lovers.
Other dramas, such as James West (Gary James Fuller) moving to Australia, kept Cody occupied. In the meantime, he managed to support and accompany Molly for her book tour. Although Molly didn't accept her new job offer at the Chicago law firm, she didn't seem firm in her decision. If she changes her mind, Cody may consider relocating to the new city with her. He may start a new life alongside his romantic partner.
4) Utilize his energy and other professional skills

Since the time Port Charles was introduced to Cody Bell, the character exuded chaotic energy. From skydiving into the pool to faking a psychiatric issue in an attempt to rescue Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) from Ferncliff, Cody has been reckless but harmless. As such, getting sidelined to a stableboy at the Quartermaine estate restricts the character's development.
While Cody is very good with the animals and cares for the horses and Tracy's stables well, he has more qualities. Besides being a charming conman and an actor, Cody has other skills. Instead of being stuck with stable work, he might consider exploiting his other talents and explore other professions.
5) Overcome his past while reconnecting with teenage friends

As mentioned before, when Cody arrived in Port Charles, he was a conman and remained on the other side of the law for some time. The Quartermaine stables were the symbol of his rehabilitation into honest work. In his life as a stableboy, Cody has shown transformation into a kind, loyal, and courageous man. However, it may be time to leave the stables in a symbolic gesture to moving on from his questionable past.
Moreover, Cody needs to grow out of his immature image into an adult with real skills and new responsibilities. He also needs to reconnect with his Bensonhurst buddies, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) and Brook Lynn. With Brook Lynn's marriage falling apart while Dante faces a fallout with his father and a crisis at home, Cody may stand in as a much-needed ally.
