5 Reasons GH's Gio May Regret Walking Away From Sonny

General Hospital's Sonny was just dealt an emotional blow after he was falsely accused of ordering the attack at Pentonville pirson, As most of his family and friends turned on him suspecting him of the criminal act, Sonny found his girlfriend, Justine Turner, and his son, Dante Falconeri, abandoning him. Although Dante asked his son, Gio Palmieri, not to trust Sonny, a confused Gio took his time to make a decision.

In solidarity with his friend and music partner, Trina Robinson, whose father was also injured in the prison attacks, Gio chose to move out of Sonny's home. He decided to move in with his girlfriend, Emma Scorpio-Drake. Whether Gio's decision comes back to haunt him in future remains to be seen.

5 Ways Gio May Regret Abandoning Sonny

Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) was framed and did not order the attack at Pentonville. Unfortunately, his own family and friends do not trust that he has really exited the mob. Although he loves his grandfather, Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) chose to turn away from him, believing him guilty of hurting the two prisoners.

However, Sonny will eventually be proved innocent of this crime. By that time, Gio will be contrite about abandoning his grandfather and believing others. He will feel bad for taking sides with non-family members and choosing to blame his grandfather for crimes and lies.

2) Sonny has supported Gio unconditionally

In the past, Sonny has shown unconditional love and support for Gio. Although he did not yet know that Gio was his grandson, Sonny supported him financially and paid for his music education. Later, when Gio chose to turn his back on most of his family, including his biological parents, he could depend on Sonny for complete non-judgmental acceptance.

Whether for protection or for care, Gio has benefited from Sonny having his back. However, Gio chose to abandon Sonny as soon as he was accused of a crime. On one hand, he is on medication for his bipolar disorder, while on the other, he has had heart surgery for a long-ignored cardiac condition. Although Sonny is ready to fight out all his adversities, being forsaken by his beloved grandson may disturb his health.

If there is a medical emergency when Sonny is all alone, Gio will feel remorse over walking out on an aging family member. He may lament not being around Sonny when he needed his grandson the most.

To show Trina that he does not condone these actions, Gio abandoned his grandfather. However, he may later realize his mistake in trusting Trina's opinions over the truth. Also, when Trina faces danger from her stalker, Gio will have no backing from his grandfather to help her.

In addition, Gio's girlfriend, Emma (Braedyn Bruner), was both supportive and proactive in getting Anna to help them lease their first apartment together. However, Gio and Emma may realize that they took this step too quickly. They may regret this move sooner rather than later.
