Suspicions are rising on General Hospital as Portia Robinson worries about Drew Cain's involvement in Curtis Ashford's release plan. As fans know, Curtis was treated at the hospital for the injuries he incurred during the Pentonville attack.

While he was hoping to be released or at least shifted to Spring Ridge, his lawyer, Monet, was enthused about using this opportunity to paint Curtis as a hero and fight for an appeal. Drew Cain promised to help in this matter and approached Portia for cooperation. Drew's involvement surprised and worried Portia in equal parts.

5 Grounds on Which Portia Should Not Trust Drew's Benevolence

1) Trauma over past blackmail

Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) faced vicious blackmail threars from Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) in the past. When Drew was living life as a cutthroat politician, he learnt about Portia's secret lab switch from Selina Wu (Lydia Look). Drew proceeded to hang the intel over Portia's head to coerce her into doing his bidding.

After months of compromise and agony, Portia was forced to confess to her then-husband, Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner). Although Curtis fought by her side, he later divorced Portia for keeping secrets in their marriage. As such, Drew was responsible for Portia's marriage falling apart.

2) Drew's vindictive nature

Portia is well aware of Drew's malicious nature. He would not let bygones be bygones. Instead Drew prefers to bear grudges and drag out his revenge. Portia has seen Drew do this to Curtis when he tampered with Curtis's role at Aurora Media when Curtis was set to become the CEO. As such, Portia fails to understand Drew going soft on Curtis.

Drew's vindictive nature has also driven him to use his former-wife, Willow Tait, as a pawn. He used Willow to attack Michael (nRory Gibson) and the latter's parents. He even used Willow's son, Wiley (Viron Weaver), in his attacks on Michael. Portia would prefer not to trust such a man.

3) Drew's history of backstabbing allies

In addition, Portia believes that Drew is a classic betrayer. He betrayed his former best friend, Curtis, his nephew, Michael, and his former romantic interests, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright). He even came after innocent Aunt Stella (Vernee Watson). Drew used the Quartermaine family name to get into politics and become the congressman from Port Charles. However, when differences with the Qs arose, he called the police on the family matriarch, vandalized the family crypt, and threatened to destroy them.

Portia has been watching these events unfold over the years. As such, she knows that Drew will pledge allegiance as per his needs and later turn around and backstab the minute he no longer needs Portia or Curtis.

4) The risk of quid pro quo

Drew held Portia's lab results switch over her head to blackmail her into compliance. In the current scenario, the chief of medical staff has no legal secrets to hide and no fear of her relationships falling apart. As such, Drew has nothing to hold against her to coerce her into acceptance.

As GH fans saw, the former blackmailer came to both Curtis and Portia in complete humility, claiming to feel remorse at his past actions. Then he pleaded with Portia for her cooperation in getting her former husband released. While she wants this, she is likely worried about Drew's demands as a return for this favor. The former cutthroat congressman is likely to ask for something in return for his services, and the courtesy is not likely to be of a good nature.

5) Drew always has hidden motives

All Port Charles residents know by now that Drew Cain has hidden agendas every time he approaches someone with seemingly good will. As such, Portia also believes that the former congressman is masking an unfathomable, self-serving interest behind his friendly gesture. When Drew was blackmailing her, he tried to force her into tampering with the medical files of his rival, Michael, to attack him indirectly.

Portia may be unaware of Drew's other nefarious actions, such as framing Nina, framing Sonny (Maurice Benard), and planning to ruin the Quartermaine family. However, her gut feeling is cautioning her about Drew's sudden change of heart as coming from a dark purpose. She may be wise to remain alert about this unwanted ally.
