General Hospital's Dante Falconeri and Elizabeth Webber recently shared an intense moment that almost led to a kiss. While Dante and Elizabeth have been sharing a mature friendly time with each other for many months, she has also been dating Ric Lansing.
However, Elizabeth shared her anguish about Aiden Webber leaving for Paris with Dante, who helped Liz bake cupcakes. The baking session brought the two very close to a romantic moment, but they fought against it. Meanwhile, an unaware Ric arrived later and Elizabeth kissed him to try to get Dante off her mind. Uh-oh.
5 Rationales Behind Ric's Caution against Dante
1) Elizabeth and Dante's newest spark endangers Ric's love life

Recently, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) shared her sorrow with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) about her son, Aiden Webber (Colin Cassidy), leaving home for Paris. Since Elizabeth was slated to bake cupcakes in Aiden's place, Dante offered to help her with the task.
As the two friends baked and chatted, there was an intense moment for them when Dante wiped cake frosting off Liz's face and hair. As they stood close, they felt drawn to one another. However, the doorbell broke the spell. Unfortunately for Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst), who wants marry Elizabeth again, Liz's closeness with Dante spells trouble.
2) Elizabeth is choosing Ric as a rebound from Dante's attraction

As mentioned above, Elizabeth shared a moment of intense spark with Dante when they were baking and frosting cakes. However, Liz tried to brush it off when Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) questioned her, having seen something inexplicable pass between Liz and Dante. Later, she admitted to having felt an urge to kiss Dante at that moment, but doubted Dante's feelings over the matter.
As such, when Ric arrived to take her out, Liz greeted him with a kiss, which surprised both Ric and Lucas. It is likely that Liz's kiss to Ric was a form of escapism from her growing feelings for Dante. Since she didn't want to encourage any thoughts about Dante, she affirmed her commitment to Ric.
3) Ric is unaware of Liz and Dante's strong feelings about each other

In a continuation of the previous point, Ric is sure of his feelings for Elizabeth. The past few months have seen a radical change in Ric's character since his kidnapping. Wanting to settle down into stable relationships, Ric and Elizabeth have been dating, but he wants more.
However, he has been jealous of Dante due to the latter's growing closeness with Liz. Since Liz has been sending Ric mixed signals, he is as yet unaware of her true feelings. To add to his confusion, Liz kissed him, validating his presumptions about their relationship. Unfortunately, he is also unaware of the intimate instance between Liz and Dante when she felt like kissing Dante, but kissed Ric as a reactionary move.
4) Lulu's lawsuit is legally solid and strongly backed with evidence

While Dante and Liz's intimate friendship has been growing through quality time spent together, Ric has been busy with multiple lawsuits. That includes the already-wound-up case of Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Harrison Chase's (Josh Swickard) divorce, Sonny's false allegations case and a Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) versus Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins) defamation case.
While every party quoted or named in Lulu's article about Congresswoman Willow drugging her husband has denied the allegations, GH fans know that Lulu's story states the truth. Moreover, Lulu has information and pieces of evidence to back her writeup. As such, to represent his client in the defamation lawsuit against Lulu, Ric has much material to defend her. With Lulu having a solid defense and enough evidence to win her court case, Ric must focus more on his personal life.
5) Lulu's case may position Ric legally against Liz

As fans know, Lulu quoted Elizabeth and Lucas's opinions in her article. Liz accused Lulu of tricking her and Lucas into expressing their views and then basing her allegations on those opinions. While Liz would have been interested in a retraction of the article, Lulu is likely going ahead with defending against the defamation lawsuit against her.
Since Ric is representing Lulu, he may need to call Liz to the stand as a witness. As he cross-examines her and defends Lulu's article, Ric and Liz will be standing on opposing sides. Ric's representing Lulu and defending her may not bode well for Liz.
