Fate is smiling at General Hospital's Valentin Cassadine all charges were dropped per Josslyn’s demands and is a free man. Upon his return to Port Charles, fans watched Carly rushing into his arms. After meeting Charlotte and Lulu, Valentin visited Josslyn and thanked her. In return, Josslyn sent a message through him to the newly-returned Anna Devane as a way to keep Valentin away from her mother, Carly.
Anna is now back in Port Charles after getting a clean bill of mental health. However, she is not totally recovered after all. When Valentin arrived at Anna’s place, the former lovers were delighted to see each other again. Whether they find their way to each other or Valentin moves on with Carly remains to be seen.
5 arguments in support of Valentin and Anna’s reunion on GH
1) Shared History of Facing Dangers and Issues

As longtime GH viewers know, Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) have a history of being part of the WSB. As such, they know the spy world. Knowing each other for decades adds to their connection that moves beyond just friendship or romance.
They also share a history connected to Peter August (Wes Ramsey), who Anna initially believed to be her son, but discovered later as her twin, Alex’s son. Since Anna continues to hallucinate about Peter, while Valentin knows about and understands her trauma, they will need each other to overcome the current problem.
2) Past Emotional Connections

As GH fans may remember, Valentin looked up to Anna during their WSB academy days. Decades later, they fell in love. She also helped him skip town. Their romance was deep-seated and genuine.
In spite of early hiccups, Anna came to love Valentin’s daughter and tried to secure her future. Since his daughter is Valentin’s weakness, Anna won him over that. As such, when on the brink of arrest, Valentin chose Anna to come to South America to bring Charlotte back (Bluesy Burke).
3) Common Enemies and Rivals

As mentioned before, Anna and Valentin share a history with the WSB. As such, they have many common enemies. To start with, Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) betrayed both of them, leading to Valentin and Anna sharing a common dislike for him. Since they know Jack's tactics, they may lean on each other to neutralize this common enemy.
Valentin also discovered the deceased WSB Director, Ross Cullum’s (Andrew Hawkes) rogue transformation. On the other hand, Cullum targeted Anna and broke her mind. While Cullum is no more, Valentin understands the extent of damage the former director has done to Anna. In return, Anna can get empathy and support from Valentin.
4) Need for Collaboration

Anna and Valentin may need to join forces to bring down their enemies. Since they know the enemies well and understand each other’s battle methods, they can complement one another. As GH viewers have recently witnessed, Anna is struggling to separate fiction from reality. Valentin may feel guilt when he sees his former lover in this state of mental damage and will want to protect her. As such, he may help her piece her life together.
On the other hand, as they try to navigate through the real events and the perceived situations, they will have to trust each other. Since Anna thinks Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey) was the one who drove her crazy, Valentin may help her get the actual sequence of events.
5) Josslyn, Jason and Other Factors

Recently, GH viewers witnessed Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) send Valentin to Anna with a message. However, she informed Jack that she was trying to throw them together so that Valentin will break away from Carly Spencer (Laura Wright). Josslyn will likely continue to evoke the old romance between Valentin and Anna.
On the other hand, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) is slated to return to town. Jason, alongside Josslyn, has never approved of Carly’s romance with Valentin. As such, he may help keep the romantic pair apart. Also, with the “hide-out” situation coming to an end, Valentin’s attraction to Carly may eventually fizzle out, pushing him into Anna’s arms.
5 Motives Behind Valentin’s Continued Romance With Carly
1) Acceptance of the Dark Side

Unlike many others in town, Carly approached Valentin knowing about his dark Cassadine side of the character. While initially they had an agreement, they eventually discovered hidden and softer attributes in each other. As such, they liked each other despite their outward reputations.
In Carly, Valentin found complete acceptance. He could be dangerous, scheming and nasty and never feel judged. Moreover, Carly’s fiery temperament complements Valentin’s calculative intelligence. As such, he may realize that he feels more comfortable around Carly in their mature relationship.
2) Unapologetic Chemistry

Unlike many other romances in Port Charles, Carly and Valentin’s romance had an element of irresistibility. Valentin’s previous relationships with Nina and Anna started with romantic interest as did Carly’s with Jack. However, Valentin and Carly had a professional agreement of shared revenge. As such, romance was never on the cards.
Despite neither looking for a romance, they discovered hidden traits about each other and eventually fell for one another. Moreover, they shared the common attribute of being protective parents. Both also helped support each other’s children.
3) Bond With Charlotte

Charlotte played a vital role in Valentin and Carly’s relationship. While Carly hid Valentin in her attic, she understood Valentin’s desire to meet his beloved daughter. As such, she secretly brought Charlotte to meet her father and won the trust of both father and daughter.
In the later days, Charlotte repeatedly leaned on Carly’s support and advice. Since Charlotte is the most important person to Valentin, he will be forever obligated to Carly for being there for his daughter.
4) Independence and Changing Priorities

After years of being on the run, Valentin is finally free of charges and can lead a life away from the shadows. In such a scenario, he may want to move on to explore new life and new relationships. Carly promises adrenaline-driven life. If Valentin desires a fresh life without a generational baggage, he may find Carly a better choice.
Moreover, with other interests such as family and children to look out for, Valentin may consider his priorities changed. If they stand together in the “us versus them” backlash from Lulu, Josslyn, Jason and others, they may eventually become a supercouple.
5) New Adversaries and Allies

While Anna’s battle with mental problems may elicit empathy from Valentin, they may not see problems in the same light. One such example is Ross Cullum versus Cassius Faison. While Anna believes Cullum is clean and Cassius is the bad egg, Valentin knows otherwise. As such, they may find themselves on opposite sides.
Valentin knows that for Anna duty would come over relationship while Carly would choose love over law. As such, Carly will have Valentin’s back unlike Anna. Moreover, Valentin’s allies may have also changed in the recent months and he may find himself on Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) and Obrecht’s (Kathleen Gati) side. In essence, Valentin’s life with Carly may be more conducive than with Anna.
