General Hospital's Drew Cain is on an apology tour (with some people at least). Since Drew is still acting vidicitve toward Danny and Sonny, while cutting a deal with Willow, his shooter, things seem topsy-turvy.

In fact, Drew seems to have not learned any lessons from Willow’s betrayal and his paralysis ordeal. As such, he chose some of his old rivals to target, such as Sonny, while reconciling with others, which includes Curtis and Portia. That's why Drew's recent apologies seem so suspicious.

As fans have seen, Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) has apologized to Curtis Ashford and his ex-wife, Portia Robinson, for how he treated them last year. He even tried to help Curtis at his trial. Drew even went to Michael at Aurora and got Jordan to bring him on as a consultant, but he has also threatened the Quartermaines through Brook Lynn and is truin to bring down Sonny by buying Sidwell's assets, so he could be just laying the groundwork for an ultimate plot.

Before his recent series of misfortunes, thanks to Willow, Congressman Drew made a reputation for himself as the “cutthroat politician”. By treating people horribly, indulging in criminal activities, and alienating influential families in town, Drew burned his bridges. However, his powerful office has gone to his wife and he needs to rebuild his life.

As such, he may be trying to change public opinion. By apologizing for his mistakes, he is recreating an image of humility. With that he hopes his identity will be viewed differently from his former aggressive personality to a reformed victim.

Just as Jordan told Michael that reconciling with Drew was akin to keeping her enemies close, Drew may be considering a similar move. While he and Curtis had gone from friends to enemies, his recent apoligies were met with suspicion by Curtis and Portia.

However, Drew may be pretending to bury the hatchet while plotting to take them down later. His big plan is to destroy Sonny, as the former crime lord walks away from the mob. Drew may keep his other enemies silenced through kind acts till he can turn around to hit them where it hurts.

As the former congressman has expressed to his ally, Ava Jerome (Maura West), many times, his chief enemy is Sonny. However, Drew knows that Sonny wields much power in Port Charles. As such, to defeat the former mobster, Drew needs to have similar power. As a former politician, Drew’s power came from public support which he lost due to his obnoxious attitude.

Drew may try to gain back his power and as the first step he needs to change his image and have more people siding with him. To attract public support, Drew may be ready to climb down from his high horse and make fake amends.

Drew's ego is clearly the root cause of his problems. Even after his harrowing experience, he still seems the same. That shows in the way he dismissed any compromising arrangement with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and continues targeting Danny (Asher Antonyzyn). Moreover, he controls his daughter, Scout Cain’s (Kayden Brenna Tokarski) life.

Drew’s massive ego may drive him to control the narrative of people’s behavior towards him. This may be the reason he is orchestrating a pretense of forgiveness and contrition while not truly humbling himself. He is deciding who he apologizes to and who he gives a cold shoulder keeping the narrative in his hands.
