For the past several weeks, General Hospital's Ava (Maura West) has been making a very risky move in teaming up with Drew (Cameron Mathison). Although they both want to take down Sonny (Maurice Benard), Ava isn't thinking about the consequences of aligning herself with someone like Drew. Here are five reasons why she may regret teaming up with him.

She may alienate her daughter, Avery

We rarely see Avery, but according to Sonny, she is now a teenager. What will happen if (or when) the residents of Port Charles find out that Ava and Drew framed Sonny for the Pentonville beatings?

Worse yet, what will happen if Avery finds out that her mother framed her father for a crime that she herself committed? If Avery is a teenager, then she is old enough to decide which parent she wants to live with. She might decide that she wants to live with her father, Sonny. She may want nothing more to do with Ava.

Ava had a problematic relationship with her late daughter, Kiki (Hayley Erin), who died before Ava had a chance to mend fences with her. By continuing to team up with Drew against Sonny, Ava may very likely drive her remaining daughter out of her life.

She may lose the Jerome Gallery

Since Ava isn't involved in the mob anymore, her sole livelihood has been running the Jerome Gallery. If she and Drew get caught for the crimes they committed, then she could lose ownership of the gallery. If that happens, then who will run it?

The Jerome Gallery has been an integral part of Port Charles for years. Acquiring and selling upscale art is Ava's passion. We can't imagine how she would function without it. Some of PC's vital storylines have revolved around the gallery. For example, in 2021, the gallery featured the National Geographic Photo Ark exhibit, which was a fictional exhibit of work from real-life photographer Joel Sartore.

We've seen plenty of characters on GH get away with crimes. But what will Ava do if she and Drew actually get caught and are convicted? We can't picture her rotting away in a prison cell, with no more art exhibits in her future. She will be lost without her beloved gallery.

She may lose her friendship with Trina

Even though Ava didn't intend for Curtis (Donnell Turner) to get injured in the prison beatdown, what will happen if Curtis eventually learns that she was the one who ordered the beating of Sidwell (Carlo Rota)? Ava has had a special friendship with Curtis' daughter, Trina (Tabyana Ali), for years, and it will become permanently fractured if Trina finds out that Ava was the one who ordered the beating.

Trina works for Ava at the art gallery and views her as a mentor. Just a couple of months ago, Ava offered Trina the opportunity to be her partner in running the gallery. If Trina finds out that Ava ordered the beatings that caused Curtis to be injured, then she will be so shocked and angry that she may cut Ava out of her life.

She may lose her friendship with Nina

Not only did Ava and Drew arrange for Sidwell to be beaten up, but they also drugged Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) and buried his dead body in the nature preserve. We still don't know exactly how Jack died. Did he pass out from the sleeping pill, fall into the Metro Court pool, and drown? Or did someone kill him? That remains to be discovered.

But now that Nina (Cynthia Watros) is doing time in Steinmauer Prison for killing Jack, Ava should be feeling awfully guilty. After all, Nina is her best friend, and now she is serving time for something that Ava and Drew did.

If the truth ever comes out, Nina is going to be furious with Ava. There is a good chance that Nina may never forgive her. Ava may need to kiss their get-togethers at the Metro Court Gardens goodbye.

She may lose her close bond with Lucas

Ava doesn't have many close relatives in Port Charles. Now that her brother, Julian (William deVry), and Kiki are gone, all she has is her nephew, Lucas (Van Hansis), and Avery. Ava and Lucas have a special rapport, but he's going to be livid if he finds out that she's reverted to her criminal ways.

After all, orchestrating the Pentonville beatings is the kind of crime that she and Julian (Lucas' father) would have committed years ago. Ava has spent over a decade trying to prove to everyone in PC that she has redeemed herself and is now living a decent, respectable life. Lucas won't be happy if he discovers that she's backsliding. He's also going to wonder why in the world she agreed to team up with a devious person like Drew. Since Lucas and Ava are family, he may eventually forgive her, but it may be a long while before that happens.

Ava would be wise to remember that she doesn't have many loved ones in PC. Only four people really care about her -- that is, Avery, Trina, Nina, and Lucas. If Ava and Drew's crimes become exposed, then she stands to lose all four of those loved ones, and she will find herself alone.

Do you think Ava is taking too many risks by partnering up with Drew? Is she going against her better judgment? Sound off in the comments.
