General Hospital's Ava (Maura West) has gotten herself into some serious hot water since teaming up with Drew (Cameron Mathison) to bring down Sonny (Maurice Benard). Ava may come to regret that decision, as it may very well ruin her friendship with Nina (Cynthia Watros). Here are five reasons why Ava might end up losing the close friendship they share.
Ava Ignored Nina's Advice Not to Team Up With Drew

Just last week on GH, Nina begged Ava not to conspire with Drew, regardless of Ava's anger toward Sonny. Nina knows from past experience how horrible Drew is. She trusted that Ava would heed her wise advice. Even Portia (Brook Kerr) warned Ava about Drew, but Ava didn't listen to her either.
Once it eventually comes out that Ava and Drew drugged Jack (Chris McKenna) and later buried his dead body, Nina will be angry that Ava did not take her advice to heart, in spite of the fact that she is Ava's best friend.
Nina Will Hate That Ava Teamed Up With Her Worst Enemy

Obviously, Ava forgot all about Drew and Willow's (Katelyn MacMullen) first wedding, from 2025. Curtis (Donnell Turner) appeared at Willow's dressing room door and told her that Nina and Drew had slept together. Willow walked down the aisle anyway, leading us to believe that she was still going to marry Drew. Then, during the exchange of vows, she unleashed her rage on Drew and stormed out of the church.
Then, Nina unleashed her rage on Drew, in front of all the guests. Ava saw how furious her best friend was with him. As Nina's friend, Ava has had a front-row seat to all of the aggravation that Drew has put Nina and Willow through.
Ava knows that Nina views Drew as her enemy. Once Nina finds out what Ava did, she may feel like Ava betrayed her.
Ava Drugged the Man Nina Was Becoming Involved With

Jack and Nina had been growing closer over the last few months before he died. Even though Nina argued with him the last time she saw him, she still had growing feelings for him that she likely wanted to explore. And now, because Ava agreed to drug Jack and he died, Nina will never know whether their blossoming relationship could have turned into something serious.
Nina hasn't had a meaningful romantic relationship with anyone since her failed marriage to Sonny. Since then, Jack was the first man to come along who was genuinely interested in her. Yes, maybe someone else killed Jack between the time we saw him in the elevator and the time we saw him floating dead in the Metro Court pool. But if the drug that Ava put in his drink was the true cause of his death, then Nina will be furious at her, once she eventually finds out about it.
Nina May Fear That Ava's Mob Mentality Has Returned

If Nina eventually finds out that Ava helped Drew dispose of Jack's body, she might worry that Ava is reverting to her old mob ways. When Ava first arrived in PC, she was involved with her brother Julian's (William deVry) crime organization. Nina wasn't on the GH canvas at the time, but everyone in PC is well aware of Ava's mob background.
Hiding a dead body is the kind of thing Sonny or Jason (Steve Burton) would have done when they were in the mob. They usually whisked the body away to the Pine Barrens and buried it there, leaving everyone else in PC to wonder where the missing victim was and whether he was still alive or dead.
Once Nina finds out what Ava did, she may think Ava has returned to her dark side. She may not be able to continue a friendship with Ava if she fears that Ava is channeling her inner mob boss again. Nina may become concerned for her family's safety if she remains in Ava's orbit. That family includes Willow and Nina's two grandchildren, Wiley (Viron Weaver) and Amelia.
Nina Won't Like That Ava is Still Planning to Target Sonny

Even though Nina and Sonny divorced in 2024, Nina once said that she will always be Team Sonny. She still views him as her ally, someone she respects and cares about. She doesn't want to see any harm come to him, and she doesn't want Ava to target him in any way — and certainly not with Drew's help. Nina would prefer that Ava simply try her best to be civil with Sonny where their shared custody of Avery is concerned.
Many GH fans have pointed out that Sonny and Ava were getting along just fine before, and that this sudden dispute between them came out of nowhere. Fans feel like the GH writers wrote this false narrative as a flimsy excuse to push Drew and Ava together as co-conspirators. Ava is ordinarily too smart to get mixed up with the likes of Drew, for any reason. None of it makes sense.
Nina will think that Ava basically sold her soul to the devil by partnering with Drew. And unfortunately, Jack became a casualty, even though that wasn't Ava's intention. It may take Nina a long time to get over all of the damage that Ava has done with Drew, if she ever does, so she may decide to cut Ava out of her life.
On a side note, we appreciated the humorous remark Ava made when she told Jack, "Carly has the warmth of a great white!" If only Carly had been within earshot and overheard that.
