Josslyn Jacks has surprised General Hospital fans by making courageous decisions and aggressive moves in the past few months. Played by Eden McCoy, Josslyn has grown out of the shadow of her mother, Carly. Her recent story arc saw her indulging in daring actions, which started after Cyrus Renault killed her boyfriend, Dex Heller. Joss killed Cyrus, fearing for her life. Then, WSB boss Jack manipulated her to join WSB as an agent in secret.
While Brennan decommissioned her into a sleeper agent for her safety, Josslyn went on to investigate Faison and landed as a hostage inside Wyndemere tunnels. Currently awaiting a rescue or more danger, Josslyn is poised on the verge of a new path.
5 GH storyline hints that say Josslyn is similar to Carly
1) Keeping massive secrets

Longtime fans know Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) kept secrets of her choices from people who mattered. From her identity before her biological mother to her multiple romantic encounters with long-standing ally, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), Carly has acted at will. She even hid the facts about A.J. Quartermaine’s (Sean Kanan) death from their son. Over the years, fans have seen her in numerous clandestine affairs, including her latest romance with fugitive Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart).
Just like her mother, Carly’s daughter, Josslyn Jacks, holds secrets at will. From her romance with her handler, Vaughn (Bryce Durfee), to her revenge on Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) by killing him, Joss has been hiding many secrets. Moreover, she joined WSB as an agent but kept up pretenses in front of her mother and close friends.
2) The over-protective instinct

Carly is known to behave like a “mama-bear” for her children. While little Donna may need her protection, Carly was seen interfering with her son, Michael’s (now played by Rory Gibson) marital issues in an attempt to shield him from emotional trauma. When she learnt about Josslyn being recruited into WSB by Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna), Carly decided to avenge the disloyalty by taking him down.
Josslyn shares this over-protective nature with her mother. Just as Carly wants to protect her children, Josslyn wants to protect her mother. This made her check on her mother periodically and point the gun at Valentin in the attic. She has also asked her mother to stay away from Sonny’s mob world.
3) The reckless hero complex

Over the years, GH fans have seen Carly jump in to save the situation and play hero multiple times. Some memorable examples include marrying Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) to save the Corinthos empire when Sonny went missing, buying The Metro Court for financial stability, followed by Kelly’s Diner, and interfering with federal investigations in an attempt to safeguard Sonny and Jason.
Josslyn shows a similar hero mentality, like her mother, where she believes her intervention will help a situation. When Cyrus killed her boyfriend, she single-handedly went to take revenge, even when the justice system was already activated. She helped keep Emma safe and saved Vaughn’s life in Dalmatia. More recently, she went around investigating long-dead Faison (Anders Hove), risking her life even when her boss decommissioned her as an agent.
4) Loyalty towards Jason

Both Carly and Josslyn share immense love and devotion towards Jason. While Carly and Jason have been lovers in the past, they are currently close dependable friends. As such, Jason looks on at Josslyn as family. Joss also trusts Jason as a family elder. This was recently proved when she rushed to Jason after finding Valentin in her mother’s home and life.
While Carly has been looking for every avenue to have Jason rescued from the WSB clutches, Josslyn went to Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) to try to convince her to work together. Unfortunately for her, Britt snitched to her brother and, as a result, Josslyn is currently being held hostage in Spoon Island.
5) Obstinate stance about choices

Both Carly and Josslyn show a strong inclination to justify their actions. Carly has always had a definite way of justifying her choices. That includes her collaboration and romance with Valentin. In the same way, Josslyn considers her decisions justified. From joining WSB and standing up to Sonny, to defying orders to investigate Faison.
Moreover, she sticks her own neck out despite arguing with Carly about taking legal risks. She judges Carly for the latter’s often questionable actions. However, Josslyn has many times treaded the grey areas of personal and legal choices.
5 ways Josslyn is very different from Carly
1) Becoming a WSB agent

In an obvious argument in favor of this point, Josslyn has chosen to join WSB despite knowing that her mother would dislike her choice. On one hand, Carly felt overprotective about her daughter and wanted to keep her away from any risk, while on the other, the daughter walked the vigilante path.
Although Carly preferred to keep her daughter a delicate damsel, Josslyn trained to become an agent. She learnt the tricks and the fights to make her a courageous asset for her organization.
2) Blaming Sonny and his connections

As fans know, Carly and Sonny share a special relationship that goes beyond romance. The two have known each other for a long time and have shared two children. While currently divorced, Sonny and Carly are best friends. However, Josslyn never understood her mother’s emotional connection and dependence on Sonny.
On the contrary, she wants her mother to stay away from the mob boss, blaming the latter for all the problems in their lives. Unable to tear her mother away from the mob boss, Joss has made it her life’s goal to take Sonny down. Despite being surrounded by people who love Sonny, which includes Carly, Michael, Jason, and little Donna, Josslyn continues to despise the friendly mobster of Port Charles.
3) Trusting Brennan and Cassius

GH viewers have witnessed how Carly’s romance with Brennan grew over the latter’s help during Michael’s burn treatment. As the two became close, Carly accepted the fact that Brennan would keep professional secrets from her. However, she felt betrayed when Brennan secretly recruited Josslyn in WSB. As such, Carly broke up with him. However, Josslyn continues to feel strong loyalty towards her boss.
She showed this loyalty when she reported to Brennan about the accidental discovery of Valentin in Carly’s house. She even warned Brennan that Carly was romancing Valentin, choosing to be loyal to her boss over her mother. After being held hostage by Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey), Josslyn has asked Cassius to help her. She tries to emotionally manipulate her kidnapper while keeping his secrets.
4) Targeting mob business

After killing Cyrus, Josslyn’s next goal was to work for a mob-free Port Charles. She wanted help from WSB and PCPD to take down Sonny. Her dislike for Carly’s love, friendship, and loyalty for Sonny, coupled with her own intent to stay away from the mob world, makes Joss anxious.
However, as mentioned before, she is currently being held hostage in the premises of another mobster, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota), who is Sonny’s rival. Despite targeting Sonny as her prime enemy, Josslyn is now forced to rethink. She will need to eliminate or take down Sidwell and the double-agent WSB Director, Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes), before all else. Whether Josslyn will give up her wrath towards Sonny and take his help to tackle Sidwell remains to be seen.
5) Challenging traditions and rules

When Carly arrived in Port Charles, she blended with the community while acting on covert attacks on her biological mother, Bobbie, and by romancing different men. Over the years, fans have seen Carly harmonize and conform while having her separate identity. However, Josslyn shows a strong dislike for rules.
Brought up by a strong mother who called shots, Josslyn did not need to fight for identity, unlike her mother. As such, she is spoiled enough to show disregard towards conformity. As such, she defied WSB rules forbidding romantic ties between agents and had a full-blown affair with Vaughn.
