5 Things General Hospital’s Chase Needs to Figure Out About His Marriage

General Hospital's Detective Harrison Chase is facing turmoil on the home front. After weeks of digging around about the "other driver" in Jordan Ashford's car crash, he managed to coerce Lucy Coe into spilling some secrets. As he connected the dots, Chase realized that Brook Lynn also drove on Route 91 on the night of the accident, but kept it a secret. As the truth spilled out, everyone chastised Brook Lynn, including Trina Robinson, who accused her of letting Curtis end up in prison.

Instead of supporting his wife in this storm of allegations, Chase chose to walk out on her. Moreover, he rushed to Willow Tait and informed her how BLQ had framed the congresswoman. He, then, approached lawyer Alexis Davis for an official separation. Meanwhile, Brook Lynn went around apologizing to everyone, and asked Chase to hold on a little while before filing for separation.

5 Factors Chase Must Clearly Grasp

1) It is not about Brook Lynn vs. Willow

In the past few months, Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) has rushed to the rescue of his former wife, Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen), leaving his current wife, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton), skeptical. While Chase assured BLQ of his commitment towards his family, Willow manipulated Chase's desire to play her savior.

However, the minute Chase learned about Brook Lynn keeping a secret from him, he walked out on her. He even outed the confidential intel on BLQ trying to frame Willow. In his eyes, Willow is innocent and worthy of being forgiven for betrayals and cheating, while Brook Lynn's one secret ought to cost her marriage with Chase. He must change his tendency of being tolerant towards Willow's mistakes but biased against BLQ's slip-ups.

Chase and Brook Lynn recently adopted baby Phoebe (Luna and Lucia Creighton), after saving and fostering the baby. While Brook Lynn insisted that her decision to keep her drive on Route 91 a secret was made so she wouldn't ruin their chances of adopting Phoebe, Chase did not value its importance. As such, he proceeded to walk away from his family and may push for a formal separation.

However, adopting Phoebe was a joint decision and Chase is as responsible for providing a loving home to the child as is Brook Lynn. As such, he should have prioritized Phoebe and stayed for her. Unfortunately, Chase is too wrapped up in his warped sense of justice and walked out on the opportunity to be a loving father.

While Chase is furious with Brook Lynn for keeping a secret from him and destroying his trust, he must realize that BLQ was stopped from coming clean by her grandmother, Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot). Brook Lynn did not want to keep any secret and would have told Chase and the PCPD, if Tracy had not coerced her into keeping quiet. Although Tracy meant well and wanted BLQ to have a clean slate before the adoption procedure, it ruined Chase and BLQ's stable marriage.

Chase must consider taking his family away from the control of the Quartermaine clan. If they decide to move from the Q property and set up a home elsewhere, the currently estranged couple reconciled.

4) Chase has kept secrets from Brook Lynn too

Brook Lynn has maintained an honest relationship with Chase. From their early encounters when Chase arrested a drunk Brook Lynn to her more recent revelation about her teenage pregnancy, BLQ had an open communication with Chase. As such, fans were surprised that he made a big issue out of her hiding her presence on a particular road.

Moreover, Chase has also not always been forthcoming with her. When he unintentionally helped Willow frame Michael for Drew's shooting, met Willow at the boathouse or when he arrived shirtless at the gatehouse to help Willow move in, he did not inform his wife every time. However, unmindful of his own actions, Chase judged BLQ for failing to inform him about her drive.

5) Chase's double standard could be part of the problem

Chase evaluated Brook Lynn's actions as her betrayal to him and their marriage. However, he failed to inform his wife about all his actions, movements and whereabouts, with Tracy or BLQ catching him with Willow in questionable conditions.

Chase has failed to realize that Brook Lynn kept secrets from him because she does not trust his reactions. His double standards have left BLQ insecure and she was forced to hide information from him. Brook Lynn knew that while Chase may ignore any misconduct committed by Willow, he would have reported her to the PCPD, disregarding Phoebe's adoption, if she had come forward. That would have jeopardized their adoption plan and Phoebe's future.
