General Hospital is getting battle-ready, as Lulu Spencer exposed Willow Tait's crimes through a published article. As Port Charles citizens were shocked to discover the dark side of their congresswoman, Detective Harrison Chase decided to believe the article was a smear campaign against the innocent Willow.
After blaming his wife, Brook Lynn, and her family for planing fake news, Chase proceeded to urge Willow to sue the journalist for libel. Meanwhile, GH fans know Chase is making a wrong move. It is preferable that he pause and contemplate the various considerations before jumping to defending his former wife.
5 Concerns for Chase to Deliberate Right Now
1) Lulu is a credible journalist

Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) responded with furious disbelief when he came across the article about Congresswoman Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen). He jumped to the conclusion that it was a fake story planted by his wife and the Quartermaine family, disregarding the fact that Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins) is not a gossip columnist. Instead, Lulu is a responsible journalist.
Moreover, she investigated her story carefully, collected voice recordings and talked to healthcare givers before joining the dots. Additionally, Chase's opinion that the Quartermaine family was behind this smear campaign is false. As such, trying to sue Lulu may turn around to bite Willow and Chase.
2) Losing baby Phoebe and a stable marriage

Chase and Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) were thrilled to adopt baby Phoebe (Luna and Lucis Creighton) and looked forward to raising her in a loving home. However, Chase's obsession with rescuing Willow left their family unstable.
Currently, Chase has waged a war against Brook Lynn, believing her to have instigated the maligning article against Willow. Since he is ready to separate from her, their plan to give Phoebe a loving family has been destroyed. However, Chase fails to weigh the price for backing Willow against losing his marriage and his daughter.
3) Backing a changed Willow

Unfortunately for Chase, Willow is not the person he once knew when they first met. Although he forgave her cheating on him at the time, he continues see her as easily impressionable, gentle Willow. However, fans know that Willow's current character is far removed from the timid innocent teacher-turned-nurse. The congresswoman has a dark persona and does not hesitate to shoot and drug people.
By backing Willow, Chase is following a ghost that does not exist. On the contrary, she is a master manipulator who turns to Chase whenever she needs him. Fans have also seen her using sobbing and weeping to steer the narrative to impress Chase. However, Chase needs to contemplate why so many people are ready to believe Willow is wicked.
4) Chase's PCPD career is losing credibility

As mentioned before, Chase is not worrying about the reason why many people in town do not trust Willow. He is also turning a blind eye to the evidence-backed story on Willow's crimes. He decided to blame his clueless wife for the defamation while distrusting the family matriarch, Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot), and refusing to accept her advice. As fans know, Tracy is blunt but factual in her reality checks.
Chase has even accepted a demotion in the past to help Willow, which ruined his professional image. Although given a breather in his career, if he again backs a criminal whose crime will eventually be proven, Chase's competence as a cop may come under scrutiny.
5) Unknowingly trapped in a criminal nexus

As mentioned before, Chase should wonder why so many people in Port Charles do not trust the congresswoman. He may realize this is not all a vendetta campaign against her. As a cop with a clean character chart behind him, Chase must use his instincts to dig deeper without any bias, trying to find fault with Brook Lynn and Michael. He may find a shocking truth awaiting him.
As fans already know, Willow is hand in glove with mobster Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota), who helped her keep Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) paralyzed. Drew will likely try to keep PCPD from sniffing into his issues with Willow for fear of exposing his past corruption and his recent involvement in Jack Brennan's (Chris McKenna) disappearance. As such, Drew and his ally, Ava Jerome (Maura West), may back Willow. Chase may be surprised to note that all the people on Willow's side, Sidwell, Ava and Drew, are criminals. By offering his support and trust to Willow, Chase will unintentionally side with seasoned criminals, spoiling his years of clean image.
