5 Things Sonny’s Latest Sidwell Move Could Cost Him on General Hospital

In a violent turn of events on General Hospital, some Pentonville inmates targeted Jenz Sidwell and Curtis Ashford was caught in the crossfire. Before leaving their bloodied and injured victim on the floor, the assailants remarked that Sidwell owed this and more to Sonny Corinthos.

Sidwell and Sonny had met a few weeks ago in the prison, where the latter informed his former rival that he was giving up his life of crime and ready to go legit and take over some of Sidwell's assets. However, they ended up exchanging barbs and threatening each other. As such, this latest bloodshed in the prison may be Sonny's way of putting Sidwell in place, or Sidwell's nefarious plan of framing Sonny by using himself as bait. Either way, this event spells bad news for the former mob boss of Port Charles.

5 Ways The Prison Violence May Come Back to Bite Sonny

As General Hospital viewers saw, the assailants, who attacked Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) and beat him and Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner), name-dropped Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), hinting that the attack was a revenge from the former mob boss. They ensured that Sidwell and Curtis heard who was behind this, even though Sonny would expect to have clean hands after his move.

Since both victims are badly injured, they are likely to land at the hospital, with a PCPD case registered on the aggression. As an investigation is conducted, based on victim evidence, Sonny will be the prime suspect. Since he had a well-managed network inside Pentonville in his heyday, the reputation will likely cost him even when he has quit the mob.

2) Severe strain in relationship with Dante

As mentioned before, the PCPD will likely get involved in the recent carnage as the two inmates are injured and may need medical assistance. If the case goes to the police, Acting Commissioner Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) will likely get involved. With all evidence pointing at Sonny, Dante may be forced to suspect his father, despite being aware of Sonny's decision to leave the crime world.

As Dante starts his investigation, he may need to interrogate Sonny as a prime suspect. This will likely lead to a strain in their relationship as Sonny would expect Dante to be on his side. If Sonny was behind the crime and expected to keep his hands clean, he may be surprised that he is being suspected. We may soon see a coldness creeping in between the father and the son.

3) Blamed if an escape is attempted by Sidwell

Since both Sidwell and Curtis have been left injured and bleeding, they may need medical care. For that, the two victims will likely be brought to the hospital. While the hospital becomes involved in a police case, so would many of the central GH characters, such as the nurses and the doctors.

There is a possibility that Sidwell may consider this an exit ticket and plan an escape route from the hospital. Since he had implied to Sonny that his revenge was still coming, this could be Sidwell's opportunity to get Sonny in trouble. If Sidwell flees from the hospital, Sonny may get caught in graver charges for causing the escape of a mobster during his sentence period.

4) Fallout with Michael and Jordan

With Curtis injured in the violence against Sidwell inside their prison cell, he may land at the hospital for treatment. This may worry his family and his girlfriend, Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper). Jordan may share her concerns with her boss, Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson), particularly if Sonny is revealed as the main suspect.

Since Michael has had problems with Sonny's mob connections in the past, he may feel a return of a similar distaste again. Moreover, Michael has a good rapport with Jordan and will likely not want to destroy that. As such, he will likely side with Jordan and Curtis. In the process, he may have a fallout with his father.

5) Alexis, Carly, Justine and other factors

Last week, Sidwell approached Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and asked her to be his attorney. While Alexis was not interested in taking the mobster on as her client, Sidwell tried his best to convince her that his life faces danger from Sonny. As such, after Sidwell is found injured by goons assigned by Sonny, Alexis may feel guilty and make an official statement on having prior knowledge about Sidwell's danger from Sonny. Whether she takes up his case remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, if Sidwell manages to escape from the prison or use his hospital stay as a ticket to freedom, he may plan his attack on Sonny by targeting his loved ones. He may choose between Sonny's ex-wife, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), or his romantic interest, Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor). Since Justine is the assistant district attorney and may be heading the case against Sonny, she will likely be untouchable for Sidwell's ploy. Comparatively, Sidwell may find Carly a softer target. If he tries to hurt Carly, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), who recently exited the mob, will need to step in to protect her.
