After enduring trauma for months on end, Anna Devane is back on General Hospital and in Port Charles. While she is still fighting trauma, her loved ones believe she is on the mend. As she gradually navigates into the current affairs in Port Charles, she will need to have a clear picture of what really happened to her.
However, she currently believes the official narrative that deceased WSB Director, Ross Cullum, died a hero, while Faison’s secret son, Cassius, was the villain, like his father. Fans also saw Anna hallucinating about Peter August and hearing him speak to her. It's clear that Anna is still not herself, but is already returning to duty and could a danger to herself and others.
5 Signs That Anna Will Become a Bigger Danger
1) Hallucinations and psychological health

While GH viewers were happy to see Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) calm and composed in her room at the psychiatric facility, they were shocked to learn that she was hallucinating Peter August (Wes Ramsey). Since she has a disturbing history with this child of Cesar Faison (Anders Hove), it spells trouble for all her fans.
On one hand, having repeated glimpses of Peter and hearing him speak, point at tha fact that she is not quite cured. On the other hand, Anna’s attempt at trying to appear normal and hiding her real issues from doctors and friends hint at her bottled-up condition, which may turn dangerous.
2) Secret agenda and revenge plans

As shocked fans watched Anna listening to Peter speak to her, they may have also noted that the deceased villain referred to a revenge that Anna planned. While Anna’s revenge target is as yet unclear, all these secrecies may lead to peril for someone in Port Charles.
While viewers may think that Anna was wronged by Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) and will likely want to avenge that, it may not happen since Anna believes Cullum clean and Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey) as the culprit for her Wyndemere captivity. However, Peter’s hint did not mean Cassius, since the apparition referred to a woman.
3) Changed behavior patterns

After Cullum used hallucenogenic drugs and other methods to break Anna’s mind, the former commissioner ended up in a French mental institution where she learned she had to play along so she could go home.
While she behaved cool and collected, she was agitated after seeing visions of Peter. She has seemed intent on trusting Cullum’s goodness and maligning Cassius. She deliberately blamed Britt of being selfish and possessing all Faison’s qualities. Fans have known the former cop to be more forgiving and considerate compared to this new vindictive, ruthless and single-minded Anna.
4) Isolation from allies

Anna has returned to town to find some equations changed. While her former flame, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) met her and they embraced like old times, she is yet to discover that he has moved on with Carly Spencer (Laura Wright).
Meanwhile, she is keeping secrets from her trusted friends, Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner), Mac Scorpio (John J. York), Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), and from her granddaughter, Emma (Braedyn Bruner). As such, she may find herself isolated from her allies. As a solitary warrior, Anna may become more dangerous for her enemies.
5) Possible evil twin theory

Longtime fans may remember that Anna had an evil twin, Alex Devane, who was Peter's real mother. Alex often tried to impersonate Anna and get away with crimes. Some of her crimes include kidnapping Maxie Jones (Kristen Storms) and shooting Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton). Later, she tried to shoot Anna, but was shot by the latter in the stomach.
Alex dragged herself into open water but her body was never recovered. Many fans wonder whether the woman who has returned to town as Anna, is in reality, Alex, pretending to be her twin. If Alex returns, she will want to put down more than one body.
5 Steps Anna Can Take to Come Out a Hero From Her Ordeal
1) Reclaiming the badge and PCPD

If it is Anna who has come back, she would want to retrieve her lost career and reputation. Since Dante invited her back into PCPD and offered to step away from the interim commissioner’s position, Anna can reclaim her role as the police commissioner.
Once she is back in her groove, she may control her negative thoughts and do what she does best, which is fighting crime. She may work towards cleaning the streets and putting all criminals behind bars. As such, she may salvage her lost status.
2) Cleaning up the WSB

As fans know, Anna was formerly a WSB agent and knows the organization well. While currently she is under the wrong impression that Cullum was clean, she may soon believe the truth. She may discover that Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) gave a false statement blaming Cassius, encouraged by Z (John Oliver).
Anna may use her past experience and intelligence to understand the loopholes in the organization. Moreover, she has to settle a score with Jack Brennan, since he had betrayed her trust in the past. With Jack planning another scheme with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), Anna will likely need to step in to derail his plans.
3) Protect and mentor the younger set

Anna has been looking out for her granddaughter Emma’s safety since the latter returned to town. She also needed to step in when she learnt about Emma’s plan to expose her professor’s animal testing. However, when she went missing and later, when she ended up in the French psychiatric facility, Emma was left distraught.
With Anna back in town, Emma will have her grandmother looking out for her. Moreover, Anna can mentor Emma and other youngsters about safety and standing up against the mob circle. Since she wants to end the control of mob boss, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) over Port Charles, having an army of GenZ to train would see justice taking shape in the next generation.
4) Conquer Peter’s ghost and mental issues

Anna is currently seeing visions of Peter. Her fragile mental state and possible guilt are making her see and hear her deceased nephew. So far, Anna has kept her condition hidden from all her loved ones and her doctors. While she feigns normalcy, she will need to address her issues sooner or later.
If Anna can fight Peter’s presence in her imagination and manages to battle her mental health issues with or without external help, she may come out the hero.
5) Changing alliances for better strategy

Anna’s romance with Valentin is possibly over (for now?) as the latter has moved on with Carly. Since Anna and Valentin, both former WSB agents, made a great team, Anna will likely miss her ally. However, she will need to strategize and form new associates. One of her important allies could be Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), who was also one of the victims of Ross Cullum.
With changing equations in Port Charles, Anna may find herself siding with Sonny to bring their common enemy, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) down. She may find other partners who will back her battle if she wants to be on the side of the good. That may eventually help Anna regain her old reputation.
