5 Ways GH's Drew May Walk the Redemption Path (and 5 Hints He Has Not Changed)

It is high time that Drew Cain comes out of her locked-in state on General Hospital. Played by Cameron Mathison, Drew has been stuck to a wheelchair since his wife, Willow, gave him what appeared to be a stroke when she injected him with a paralytic drug.

Since then, she kept him paralyzed by routinely pumping him with the chemicals. Recently, after she ran out of doses due to Jenz Sidwell's arrest. As such, Drew is slowly regaining control of his nerves and muscles. Whether he will use this experience to turn a new leaf and become a better person, or will develop a nastier disposition for his revenge, remains to be seen.

5 Steps Drew Can Take to Salvage His Reputation

As GH fans know, Congressman Drew showed his cutthroat nasty side before his fall. He undermined people, blackmailed, threatened and plotted to get his way. However, his new bride, Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen), stabbed him with paralytic drugs and kept him in a locked-in condition. While the effects of the drugs are wearing off, Willow is looking for dirt on him to ruin Drew completely.

In this situation, if he manages to come out unscathed, the first step Drew should take is to regain his daughter’s love and support. Since he had been keeping her away from her siblings and other family members, Drew must shower her with love and let her enjoy the extended family. Being a caring father will be a good start on the path of redemption.

After having sex with his nephew's wife on the playroom floor, Drew fell from grace of the Quartermaine family. Unlike his twin, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), Drew did not receive any love and acceptance from his biological family. In return, he proceeded to wage a war on Tracy (Jane Elliot), steal Monica’s (Leslie Charleson) heirloom pieces, and left Ned (Wally Kurth) to die of a heart attack. Logically, the family only feels contempt for him.

After his recovery, Drew should reach out to the Quartermaine family, apologize and explain himself. He may vow to abide by rules, present himself as a model citizen and earn their respect back.

Since Drew knows that it was Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) who provided Willow with the drugs to keep him paralyzed, Drew may want to take down the mobster. Knowing that Sidwell is due to stand trial, the former Congressman may pledge cooperation with the PCPD in helping them nab the criminal. He may hand out important information about Sidwell from the time they worked together before his medicine-induced stroke.

If Drew comes forward as a responsible member of the society helping the police put away a criminal, he may be able to turn the image people have about Congressman Cutthroat. Moreover, he may show his family that he has changed for better. Also, by helping track down Sidwell, Drew may earn a goodwill from Sonny (Maurice Benard) and his son, Michael (Rory Gibson).

4) Let Willow walk away from the marriage

While Willow is solely responsible for Drew’s current condition, Drew may feel the urge to take revenge on Willow. However, if he can overcome this impetus and let Willow keep her new career and her children, Drew may show his magnanimity.

Elsewhere, since Drew was always jealous of Jason, this may be a good time for him to ask the latter for forgiveness. As GH fans saw recently, Scout (now played by Kayden Brenna Tokarski) approach Tracy for permission to practice swimming in the Quartermaine lake. However, she also tabled a plea to let her father watch her during her practice sessions and Tracy agreed.

While this might have been an innocent plea from Scout, there is also the possibility that Drew put her up to it. Either way, Drew will likely use this opportunity to his advantage. He may try to wiggle into the family and get approval from them. He may also use this connection to promote himself to the rest of the world.

2) Urging Wiley and Amelia to lie to their mother

As GH viewers saw recently, Amelia (now played by Sienna Goerisch) and Wiley (Viron Weaver) waved at the wheelchair-bound Drew, and he waved them back. Before the children could react to the fact that Drew could move his hands, he shushed them by putting his finger on his lips.

This hints at Drew continuing with his sinister moves. Just like in the past when he had manipulated Wiley’s feelings for his father, Drew could be doing it again. He encouraged the children to keep secrets from their mother, an act showing that Drew has not changed.

Drew was desperate to communicate with outsiders since he was in his locked-in condition. However, the people visiting him were either his enemies or refused to believe him, such as Nina, Sidwell, or Elizabeth. As such, he could not get any help.

However, when Detective Joe Fitzpatrick (Jonathan Bennett) arrived looking into Willow’s possible presence on Route 91 during Jordan’s (Tanisha Harper) accident, Drew tried his blinking morse code with the cop. When Joe took notice, Drew promptly blinked that Willow was involved in the case. He did not hesitate to frame Willow falsely for the incident. As before Drew does not care about truth and justice to get to his goal.

GH viewers may have noted how Drew is slowly regaining control of his body. As mentioned before, with Sidwell in jail and Willow having limited stock of the paralytic drug, Drew is able to fight off the remnant effects. However, he is not yet letting others know about this.

While he gestured to Willow’s children to remain quiet about this fact, he will soon scare Nina by calling her name. Drew may consider using this secret to put pressure on Willow and psyche her out, instead of confronting her straight on. This malicious and sinister tactic suggests that Drew may not have changed into a better person after his ordeal.

Despite being shocked to learn that his wife betrayed him, Drew was equally surprised to find that Sidwell was Willow’s drug supplier. As such, his wrath against these two is expected. However, the former congressman has a history of holding on to grudges and dragging out punishments.

Drew may not have turned a new leaf when it comes to his resentments and dislikes. His current situation is likely to leave him with bigger injuries and grudges, making him more dangerous.
