Lulu Spencer of General Hospital has made a risky decision to protect her son, Rocco Falconeri, from legal consequences of the latter’s hasty move of shooting WSB Director Ross Cullum. She is taking help from her half-brother, Ethan Lovett, to procure fake passports to skip town against Dante Falconeri’s advice.

While Lulu is distraught with the danger looming on Rocco, she can find no easier way to help him. At the same time, Rocco is struggling with guilt of bringing danger on all, concern over Danny’s separation from his father, and grief over having to bid Britt goodbye. In such a scenario, whether Rocco finds his mother’s move comfortable remains to be seen.

5 reasons why Lulu’s decision may harm Rocco on General Hospital

1) Turning Rocco into a fugitive

As fans know, Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) did not consult Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) about skipping town despite the latter insisting on making decisions for their son together. She took Ethan’s (Nathan Dean) help in making arrangements for the travel. When Dante discovered her plan, he refused to allow her to make Rocco (Finn Carr) a fugitive.

Lulu seems to think that escaping the current location will leave Rocco risk-free. However, as Dante pointed out, fleeing town will make Rocco a fugitive for life. On the contrary, escaping may prove his guilt.

2) Risking Cullum’s wrath

Currently, Lulu thinks Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) is unaware of the truth of his shooting. However, General Hospital fans know that Cullum has learnt the identity of his shooter. As such, he is looking for ways to get hold of Commissioner Dante’s son. He may chalk up a ploy to arrest the teenager.

When Cullum finds both Rocco and his mother missing, he will realize they have fled. He may be furious to learn that his target has escaped. As the WSB Director, Cullum has a well-knit network and may be able to search Rocco’s location, making it perilous for the teenager.

3) Destroying Rocco and Dante’s relationship

As mentioned before, Dante disagreed with Lulu’s idea of saving Rocco by fleeing town. As a stickler for the law, Dante wants to protect his son within the purview of legal methods. Moreover, he knows that escaping makes his son an outlaw for life.

Already, Rocco and Dante share an uncomfortable relationship since Dante is a strict father. With a prior distance in the father-son relationship, Lulu’s move of taking Rocco away from Dante without the latter’s consent will likely bring more rift in their bond. Moreover, this move teaches Rocco to lie and betray his father, fracturing their relationship forever.

4) Alienating Rocco from his allies

As General Hospital fans have witnessed, Rocco is emotionally dependent on Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) more than his mother. Rocco was seen repeatedly seeking her out to share his trauma. While Britt was the indirect reason for Rocco’s trouble, she showed a willingness to leave town without her medication to redirect Cullum’s wrath towards her.

Moreover, Rocco will be away from his siblings and best friend when he leaves town. At the delicate time when his declining mental health needs more loving support, isolating him from every relationship he grew to love may bruise his psyche further.

5) Loss of identity, education, and social skills

As viewers already know, Rocco and his mother are expected to travel on fake passports arranged by Ethan. At this troublesome time, a pseudonym would mean an identity crisis for the teenager. Moreover, he would lose the connections he has to the influential Spencer, Corinthos, and Falconeri families, along with the loss of identity.

Moving cities is also likely to affect his school, medical care, and other systems connected to his identity. He may miss out on his high school credits, affecting his way into college education. Additionally, running away to hide among strangers will affect his psyche, confidence, and social skills.

General Hospital: 5 ways Lulu’s resolution will alleviate Rocco’s problems

1) Navigating the legal fallout

Reiterating Rocco’s problem once again, the teenager shot the WSB Director in the back and has not come forward to admit his actions. His father is the Commissioner of PCPD and is trying to evade having to prosecute his son while protecting him from Cullum’s wrath. To add to the problem, too many people are aware of Rocco’s involvement, including Cassius (Ryan Paevey) and Britt.

Lulu believes that taking Rocco away from this complicated scenario may free him from any immediate legal outcome. Moreover, to make an unrestricted flight, she has arranged for fake passports so that the authorities cannot raise any flags to stop their departure. This may give her, Rocco, and others some time to strategize their next moves.

2) Removing the target from Port Charles

In an extension of the previous point, Lulu thinks that it is safe for Rocco to be removed from Cullum’s direct target since it is only a matter of time before the WSB Director learns about his real shooter. As fans know, Cullum has already discovered Rocco as the culprit.

If Rocco is in town, Cullum can summon him for interrogation, issue legal warrants, or order state-sanctioned extractions to get to Rocco. He may also use Dante to get to the latter’s son. However, with Rocco disappearing from town, Cullum will need to use resources to search him out, buying the family some time and Rocco the opportunity to harden up.

3) Emotional support for the trauma and guilt

General Hospital fans have noticed Rocco’s spiraling mental state. He is processing his trauma and needs emotional support, which his mother can provide him. With his mother, Rocco need not think about doing the right thing by the book and vent his feelings.

Moreover, Rocco is burdened with the guilt of letting Jason take the fall. Staying in town and meeting Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) every day accentuates this negative feeling. When escaping town, Rocco may switch his mental state from gnawing guilt to survival mode, which may act as a reset for him.

4) Resolving the dual-mother scenario

As viewers have witnessed, Rocco is getting pulled between his two mothers, the biological one and the surrogate one. Moreover, the two women dislike each other, making Rocco’s relationship navigation awkward. While he finds Britt loving and understanding, he has to hide the fact from his mother.

When staying away with Lulu, Rocco can re-bond with his biological mother, while she can understand Rocco better. They may discuss Britt and find a middle ground. Moreover, Britt asked Rocco to leave town. As such, by skipping town, he honors her advice as well.

5) Instilling the Spencer legacy

As Dante pointed out, skipping town is what a Spencer would do. As such, Rocco fleeing Port Charles with his mother would be a very “Spencer thing” to do. Moreover, Ethan (another Spencer) arranged their travel. With this move, Lulu may be able to explain to Rocco the daring moves that her side of the family does.

Once out of town, she may reach out to her stepfather, Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom), for help. Alternatively, she may contact her brother, Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson), for help. She may have Rocco surrounded by all the help the Spencer family can offer. That way, Rocco will have a better rapport with the Spencers.
