5 Ways Prison Time May Change Curtis Forever on General Hospital

In an expected but miserable turn of events, General Hospital's Curtis Ashford was sentenced for 10 years in prison, with parole after two. As viewers already know, Curtis picked a fight with Isaiah Gannon, his former wife’s boyfriend, suspecting that the latter was the driver on Route 91 who Jordan nearly killed when she swerved to miss their car.

With the Curtis-Isaiah friction escalating, Curtis punched his nemesis, which ended with the surgeon’s broken right hand. The consequences were far reaching, as some of Dr. Gannon’s serious surgery patients had to be shifted out of General Hospital. With Isaiah's career on the line, the attack case reached court and Curtis was sent to jail.

5 Possible Plot Twists for Curtis in the Coming Days

1) Parenting disadvantage on Desmond over Isaiah

Recent events on General Hospital have put Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) in a disadvantageous position at a heartbreaking moment in his life. For the past many months, he was awaiting the birth of his baby, vowing that he would not miss his early childhood as he did with Trina. However, his attitude towards Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson) drove him to assault the doctor.

Just as Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) gave birth to Desmond Ashford (Yirah Aviah Lafond) and the family started bonding with the baby, he was sent to prison. Based on that, Curtis will miss witnessing the first two years of his son’s life. When he finally gets out on parole, the child would be two years old. During this time, little Desmond may grow closer to Isaiah.

As of now, Curtis is slated to be away from his loved ones for two years. While Curtis reunited with his former spouse, Jordan, a year ago, he will end up missing vital time with his father and daughter too.

Although Jordan promised to wait for him, a two-year separation may test Jordan’s fidelity. If Jordan falls for another man, Curtis will end up devastated. At the same time, if Jordan proves a successful CEO for Aurora Media, Curtis may never get his job back. On Trina’s end, she may visit her father often but her personal life may see changes that Curtis will not be part of.

3) Physical danger inside the prison

General Hospital fans may remember that Curtis is a former cop who may have helped put many people behind the bars and who will likely harbor resentment against him. When such vindictive criminals find Curtis within their reach, they may take action. As such, there may be much danger of a brutal assault inside the prison, with Curtis ending up with severe injuries.

On the other hand, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota), who is also imprisoned at Pentonville, may remember that Curtis was team Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and as such his enemy. The mobster may want to take a quick revenge by getting Curtis beaten up. Alternatively, Sidwell may stage an attack on Curtis and then save him from it, to gain a favor.

As longtime General Hospital fans may remember, Curtis struggled with addiction in the past and even lost his career in law enforcement. However, he has been straight for many years now and steered clear of drugs and addiction. Unfortunately for him, drugs may be secretly more available to him inside the prison.

Whether he gets caught in a drug circulating ring or is manipulated into substance abuse, this may lead to a relapse that Curtis may not be able to fight.

As mentioned before, Sidwell is also locked up in Pentonville, so there is a possibility that Sidwell and Curtis will meet within the prison premises. While in Port Charles, the two have been on opposite sides of the law. However, master manipulator Sidwell may consider getting on Curtis’s good side. While the mobster may get many benefits by taking Curtis as his ally, such as using Curtis’s P.I. skills against Sonny, or planning a breakout together, Curtis may fall in the trap.

Whether it is saving from assault or a drug issue, if Sidwell can come to Curtis’s rescue, Curtis may make a deal with the crime lord. With that, Curtis' life will never be the same again.
