General Hospital is a soap with dark themes, with its mob presence and the numerous WSB agents and former agents. The critically acclaimed Showtime series Dexter is dark as well. Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) is a vigilante serial killer with a penchant for eliminating criminals who get away with their crimes. Here are six GH actors who appeared in Dexter.
Max Gail

After watching Max Gail play Sonny's (Maurice Benard) loving father, Mike Corbin, GH fans may find it a bit jarring to picture him in a sinister show like Dexter. His Alzheimer's storyline on GH brought us to tears, especially after we saw the positive impact Mike had on so many other characters in the show. Some of us grew up watching Gail play the likable Detective Stan "Wojo" Wojciehowicz in the 70s sitcom Barney Miller, so it's even more difficult for us to picture him in Dexter.
But in 2007, Gail appeared in a Dexter episode titled "It's Alive!" He played a banana boat tour guide who discovered a dead body while preparing his boat for the next scheduled tour. As it turned out, the body is that of a gang member who was killed by the gang's enforcer, Little Chino.
Blake Gibbons

From 2002 to 2014, Blake Gibbons played Mitchell "Coleman" Ratcliffe on GH, the owner of The Floating Rib bar. Coleman committed a laundry list of crimes that included blackmail, assault, framing, and kidnapping. He did have some good guy moments, though, like the time he helped Carly (Laura Wright) find her birth father, John Durant (Corbin Bernsen).
For all of the newer GH fans who aren't familiar with Coleman, he dated Tracy (Jane Elliot) and was also romantically involved with one of Sonny's past loves, Kate Howard (when played by Megan Ward). There was something likable about him, even though he engaged in underhanded actitivites. Some GH fans would like to see him return to Port Charles. Perhaps he can tend bar at Charlie's Pub?
Unfortunately, there is nothing likable about his Dexter character. Gibbons played Clemson Galt, a xenophobic supremacist who led a neo-Nazi group in a 2008 episode called "Si Se Puede." He murdered several people, including his pregnant girlfriend, as well as another woman and her three children. By committing those heinous crimes, Galt made himself Dexter's next target.
Bruce Weitz

GH fans remember Bruce Weitz in the role of Anthony Zacchara, head of the Zacchara crime organization and one of Sonny's mob rivals. Weitz has appeared in many other television shows, including Hill Street Blues, The Young and the Restless, Judging Amy, The West Wing, The X Files, NYPD Blue, and Profiler, among many others.
In 2007, he appeared in a Dexter episode called "Morning Comes," in which he played paranoid recluse Lenny Asher. Lenny was always looking out of his windows and keeping notes of everything he sees that appears odd. He was suspicious of his neighbor's activities, and one night, he spotted Dexter carrying his unconscious neighbor (a crack dealer and murderer) to a car. Dexter was prepping for his next kill!
Vernee Watson

Many GH fans consider Stella to be a busybody who is always getting involved in her nephew, Curtis' (Donnell Turner), personal business. Her portrayer, Vernee Watson, has played similar roles before, such as her role as the mother of Will Smith's character in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Watson-Johnson has played in numerous other TV shows, including The Big Bang Theory, Cold Case, Without a Trace, Good Times, Welcome Back, Kotter, and many other shows.
She appeared in two Dexter episodes, "Return to Sender" and "The British Invasion," as the mother of Sergeant James Doakes (Erik King), the detective who had long been suspicious of Dexter and who was the first person to discover that Dexter was a serial killer.
Adam J. Harrington

It's been two years since GH's Sonny killed Special Agent John "Jagger" Cates (Adam J. Harrington) on a rainy night outside of the Quartermaine boathouse. Sonny was never caught, though pretty much everyone in PC suspected that he did it. Now, Drew (Cameron Mathison) is obsessed with taking him down. Some fans would love to see Sonny take care of him the same way he took care of Cates!
Harrington played an FBI agent in Dexter as well, in four episodes in season five ("My Bad," "Hello, Bandit," "Practically Perfect," and "Beauty and the Beast"). His character, Agent Ray Walker, triesd to track down the person who killed Dexter's wife, Rita (Julie Benz).
Andrew Hawkes

It's barely been two months since GH's Joss (Eden McCoy) killed Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) and rid Port Charles of his evil presence. We will never forget the night he stabbed Marco (Adrian Anchondo) multiple times, then casually wiped the blood off of the knife and walked out of the office.
Hawkes also played a killer in a 2006 episode of Dexter called "Crocodile," in which he was a jail guard who was ordered to assasinate an inmate. Hawkes has a wonderful talent for setting his face like steel. After he killed Marco, that ice-cold expression was enough to scare the bejesus out of us.
In 2012, Hawkes appeared in another Dexter episode, which was titled "Run." He played a police officer accused of using excessive force while arresting someone.
GH fans who are also die-hard Dexter fans are sure to remember all (or most) of the episodes mentioned on this list. But if you don't, tell us, which one were you most surprised to learn about? Give us your thoughts in the comments.
