In an unexpected General Hospital twist, Maxie Jones and Damian Spinelli have decided to move to Australia as tech wizard Spinelli has a lucrative job offer. As Maxie is joining her romantic partner, her children are leaving Port Charles as well.

This news came at the right time after the Nathan-Cassius fiasco was revealed, leaving little James shaken and anguished. However, both Spinelli and Maxie have to leave behind their network of family and friends to start a new life, making them much-missed characters in Port Charles.

1) Cody Bell

As longtime GH fans know, Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) found his family very late in his life. After reuniting with his father Mac Scorpio (John J. York), Cody formed a loving relationship with his father’s wife, Felicia Jones (Kristina Wagner) and her daughter, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms). Cody and Maxie shared a loving and dependable sibling love. Maxie even left her son’s care on Cody when she was busy.

In the process, Cody formed a close bond with Maxie’s son, James West (Gary James Fuller/Easton Winn). While Cody remained the father figure for the child, they had a brief fallout when he told James about Nathan being an impostor, Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey). However, the uncle-nephew duo reconciled on the July 23rd episode. Expectedly, Cody will miss James a lot along with his step-sister Maxie.

While Felicia may be ready to accept her daughter moving forward from harrowing experiences and relocating to Australia, it is a no-brainer that she will miss her. Felicia has been backing Maxie through many of her ordeals including the latter’s perilous relationship with Peter August (Wes Ramsey). Felicia even saved her from Peter’s attack by clocking him with a tire iron.

Felicia also kept an eye on Maxie’s three children when the latter was in a coma for a couple of months. As such, both she and Mac became very close to their grandchildren. With Maxie moving away with Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and her kids, Felicia and Mac will miss the family setup.

3) Jason Morgan

As fans know, Spinelli is a tech-geek who has helped out the mob numerous times. As such, he and Jason became BFFs. In the past, Jason approached Spinelli to get intel into their enemies or hack into systems and the latter complied for the sake of their relationship.

Recently, Jason went through a traumatic experience where he was arrested by the WSB and tortured in a facility in Jakarta. At the same time, Spinelli was out of town with Maxie. Now that Jason is back, Spinelli will be gone for the foreseeable future.

4) Lulu Spencer

Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins) has been Maxie’s friend since the two were teens. They leaned on each other and sacrificed for one another in the past. However, Maxie and Lulu missed years of friendship when Lulu lapsed into a long coma. Lulu woke up from her coma about two years ago, while Maxie landed in a coma for six months induced Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota).

When Maxie awoke, the two friends had a brief disagreement over Lulu falling in love with Maxie’s former, back-from-the-dead husband, “Nathan West”. When Maxie chose Spinelli, she also gave Lulu permission to date “Nathan”. Now, with the shocking revelation that Cassius was pretending to be Nathan has shaken both Lulu and Maxie. With Maxie relocating, Lulu will have no one to share her romantic ideas with or have a genuine sounding board.

5) Brook Lynn Quartermaine

While Lulu was in a coma, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and Maxie became good friends. Their years of friendship also harkens back to Maxie's relationship with Peter. Brook Lynn stepped in after Maxie delivered Peter’s daughter, Bailey Lu, and claimed the child as her own. Maxie and BLQ made this plan to protect the baby from Peter’s evil shadow. For some time, BLQ raised Bailey Lu before handing her back to Maxie after Peter died. This move to Australia will make BLQ sad for losing Maxie and Bailey Lu.

6) Michael Corinthos

For Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson), Maxie’s relocation is not a matter of separation and sadness, but of responsibility. Maxie called Michael and sold her Deception shares to him.

While this would be added corporate responsibility for Michael, both Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) and Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) may not like his interference. Besides handling the tempers of his co-board members keeping them grounded, as Maxie did for years, Michael will also need to make profitable decisions for the company without getting carried away by emotions.
