6 Ways General Hospital's Lucas and Joe Are Perfect for Each Other

General Hospital's most recent PCPD hire, Detective Joe Fitzparick, has formed an interesting friendship with Lucas Jones. The detective landed on the in May to arrest Curtis Ashford for punching Isaiah Gannon. While he doubted Lucas’s claims about Marco’s death, the cop was involved in PCPD’s first attempt at arresting Jenz Sidwell after the mobster shot Lucas. At the time, Joe checked on Lucas and accompanied him to the hospital.

Later, in his next encounter with Sidwell, Cassius Faison hit him unconscious and Lucas treated him back to health. Currently, both have been summoned to the court in the hearing about Curtis’s assault on Isaiah, since, Joe arrested the perpetrator and Lucas treated the victim. Fans witnessed a warm camaraderie between the two with hints of onscreen chemistry. The same could be seen on the softball field earlier in the week.

6 Arguments in Favor of a Lucas-Joe Romance

As GH fans have so far witnessed, Joe Fitzpatrick (Jonathan Bennett) and Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) have bumped into each other circumstantially. Neither of them made any efforts to know each other or pursue one another. However, an easy companionship was evident outside the courtroom where they appreciated one another.

Since Lucas is still grieving the death of Marco Rios (Adrian Achondo), it may not be easy for him to move on. On the other hand, Joe is new in town and his past is still a mystery for Lucas. As such, instead of rushing into any relationship, the two have shown slow-building trust and camaraderie that may forge a lasting romance.

Recently, Joe was questioned by attorney Martin Grey (Michael E Knight) about his urgency in arresting Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) for assault. However, outside the courtroom, Lucas assured Joe that he believed the cop did not overstep his authority in arresting the perpetrator. With this, Lucas clarified his respect for Joe’s professional prowess.

On the other side, Joe was seen trusting his care on Lucas after raising an APB on rogue cop “Nathan West” (Ryan Paevey). While Lucas was empathetic as a doctor, Joe went on to trust him with intel on Nathan being Cassius, as well as about Britt’s (Kelly Thiebaud) saline syringe.

As mentioned before, Joe took Lucas to the hospital to get checked out after being shot by Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota). Later, when Joe became a victim in a high-stakes storyline involving Sidwell and Cassius, Lucas cared for him. While there, Lucas learned about Cassius and Britt’s medication.

As such, both are aware about the dangers surrounding them and have seen one another in the worst situations. After collaborating in the current court case, they may also realize their joint strength in the face of adverse pressure. As both have shown their resilience and courage in perilous situations, it may help create a common ground for them to bond over and depend on each other.

As longtime fans know, Lucas had a heartbreaking experience with Brad Cooper (Parry Shen). While the two were in love, Brad’s association with his crook aunt forced him to indulge in many unlawful activities and secrecies. Moreover, Brad’s involvement in the baby-switch drama broke Lucas’s trust and destroyed their marriage. Lucas’s next relationship with Marco also had hints of secrecy as the latter hid his agreement in his mobster father’s nefarious plans.

However, with Joe, Lucas may not need to look over his shoulders or keep doubting his partner. As a cop, Joe may be straight and honest with him. At the same time, Lucas may open up about his past without fear of judgment. Whether any revelation about Joe’s past affects their relationship remains to be seen.

After a while with Joe, Lucas may finally associate with someone unconnected to the mob world. Both his past relationships had links to the mob world. While Brad has a (relatively) small-time mobster aunt, Marco’s father was the international crime lord, Sidwell, who is currently in prison.

Although Lucas does not yet know anything about Joe’s past, so far, the cop seems honest and clean. If Joe has no relations with the mob or mob families, this may give Lucas’s interest a big boost. Moreover, Joe is an outsider in Port Charles. This leaves him clear of prejudice and preconceptions. As such, Lucas and Joe can bond with no fear of the crime world destroying their faith in each other.

Lucas is relieved that Marco’s killer, Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) is dead. However, he has yet to get a closure because the WSB painted Cullum as a hero while Marco died in vain because Britt’s medication, that Marco stole, were placebos. Lucas will need a patient friendship to navigate this grief and look for a possible closure. Joe may be able to provide that.

On the other hand, Lucas will need to help the outsider Joe get to know his social circle. That would include his extended family and friends, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), Ava Jerome (Maura West), and more. He may also consider enlightening the outsider about the complicated history of the Corinthos family, and the Jerome family. If they can make peace with each other’s pasts and connections in a mature way, this association may be for the keeps.
