General Hospital fans have seen some deaths that seemed justified and others were heartbreaking for various reasons. Various villains have met deserving ends, such as Cesar Faison, Ross Cullum and Cyrus Renault. On the other hand, some deaths some others left fans in tears, like the ones detailed below.
8 GH Deaths That Left Fans Heartbroken
1) Mike Corbin

Mike Corbin's (Max Gail) end journey as the father of Port Charles’s mob boss, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) took us through many emotional beats. Although initially, the father-son relationship was rocky, they made amends over the years. However, the turning point in their relationship actually arrived when Mike was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
Mike struggled in a long and painful battle with Alzheimer’s. Sonny was seen trying to keep him safe in those days before Mike lost his battle with the disease. Through Mike’s story, General Hospital highlighted the plight of Alzheimer’s patients and their care takers. Actor Max Gail portrayed the declining health and dementia with sensitivity and raw, realistic performance. In 2020, with Sonny at Mike’s bedside, fans also bid a tearful goodbye to the character.
2) Morgan Corinthos

Fans were saddened when Sonny’s troubled son, Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig) met an unexpected tragic end. What made his death more heartbreaking was that he was seen desperately trying to fight his mental health problems. Among all Sonny’s children, Morgan inherited his father’s bipolar disorder. To add to his problems, he fell for Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) shenanigans and destroyed his genuine romantic relationship.
Although not the intended target, he fell victim of a sabotage meant for mobster Julian Jerome (William deVry). Morgan stole Julian’s car, which was rigged with a bomb meant for the mobster. However, Morgan got caught in the explosion and lost his life, shattering Sonny and his mother, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright).
3) Kiki Jerome

Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin) was killed by the serial killer, Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom), in an attempt to please her mother, Ava. The whole situation was part of a larger misunderstanding. It happened when, as a frustrated mother, Ava ranted against Kiki to presumed Dr. Kevin Collins. However, the real Kevin was locked away by his identical twin, Ryan, who was himself pretending to be the psychiatrist.
When the impostor Dr. Kevin heard Ava vent about Kiki, who was jow in a romance with Ava's ex, he misconstrued that Ava wanted her daughter eliminated. As such, Ryan stabbed Kiki and tried to frame Kiki’s romantic partner, Griffin Munro (Matt Cohen) for the crime. Kiki’s brutal murder impacted Ava emotionally, destroying her.
4) Brando Corbin

After losing his son, born with after a placental abruption, Sonny’s henchman, Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) was trying to piece his life together along with his wife Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson). One year into the incident, as the duo turned to each other to overcome the grief of losing their baby, Brando faced The Hook killer.
He was the first victim of a series of gruesome murders by hacking with a poisoned hook that the killer used. Brando’s death was exceptionally cruel and unexpected, leaving his widow grieving for years. Tragically, General Hospital actor Johnny Wactor became the victim of a bizarre shooting and died of the gunshot wound in Los Angeles.
5) Nathan West

Detective Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) lived and died a hero. While his killer was unexpected, the timing of his death was tragic. Known for being a clean cop and different from his villain father, Cesar Faison (Anders Hove), Nathan died while protecting his pregnant wife.
As Faison kidnapped Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms), Nathan interfered to save her. However, angry at his other son, Peter West (Wes Ramsay), Faison shot the meddlesome officer before realizing that Nathan was his own son. Nathan smiled through his pain as Maxie panicked and fretted. He met his end before seeing his wife giving birth to his son.
6) Bobbie Spencer

The character of Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) died off-screen following the actress' death after a short battle with cancer. The feisty nurse at the titular hospital was part of the GH canvas since 1977 and played a central role in many stories through the years, including the death of her daughter in a school bus accident and the subsequent organ donation arc.
Port Charles residents came together to mourn her loss in January of 2024. Carly and Felicia (Kristina Wagner) finished work she was doing in Amsterdam, while Bobbie was shown having a heavenly departure escorted by her late daughter.
7) Sam McCall

In a shocking twist, October 2024 saw the departure of the beloved character of Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco). This came in the wake of Sam becoming a liver donor for the comatose Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins). Sam even seemed to be recovering quickly. After Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) proposed marriage, Sam announced her engagement to her mother, before going into cardiac arrest.
While later revealed to be a sabotage by Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), Sam’s death left everyone connected to her devastated. Her children and stepchildren seemed rudderless, and Dante grieved her long and hard. In addition to Sam's mothers and sisters mourning, Sam's death also left GH fans distraught.
8) Marco Rios

Marco Rios (Adrian Achondo), the lawyer son of mobster Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota), came to Port Charles to join the legal firm of Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) while handling the legal requirements of his father’s businesses. He soon started a romantic relationship with Lucas Jones (Van Hansis). In an attempt to steal secret medication to help his boyfriend, Marco was targeted by the rogue WSB Director, Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).
Cullum accosted Marco in Alexis’s office and stabbed him multiple times, leavingMarco in a pool of blood to die. Despite medical help and efforts, Marco could not be saved, leaving both Lucas and Sidwell devastated.
