General Hospital fan favorite Jack Wagner has come and gone from daytime and back to primetime over the years. Now, he's celebrating a big role in nighttime TV. This one was kept under wraps for a while, as Wagner has been performing as a contestant on the Fox primetime show The Masked Singer. The former Frisco was eliminated from the competition series in its latest episode March 4th.
The Masked Singer features celebrities from various genres singing popular hits while dressed in giant costumes of cartoon characters. As part of the game, clues are given about the singer before each performance. A celebrity panel of judges gives the singers a critique while trying to guess who they are.
General Hospital icon is also known for his singing

Wagner was the “Eggplant,” dressed as a purple eggplant with a cartoon face. Fox shared a clip of his big reveal on their social media accounts, which you can see below.
Wagner originated the role of Nick Marone on The Bold and the Beautiful. He had a brief return to the half-hour CBS soap in 2025. He last played the part of Frisco Jones on General Hospital in 2013, when Felicia (Kristina Wagner) chose Mac (John J. York) over her ex-husband.
Wagner has released five studio albums, and a number one single, 1985's “All I Need.” He has also starred on Broadway and competed on the ABC dance competition reality show Dancing With the Stars.
Wagner is currently playing lawman and judge Bill Avery on the Hallmark series When Calls the Heart, which he has appeared in since its season in 2014. The series depicts life in Hope Valley, a small town in the West in the early 1900s. The actor also played Dr. Peter Burns on Melrose Place for six years.
The weekly clues on The Masked Singer referenced all of these roles, his past romance with Heather Locklear (ex-Amanda, Melrose Place), and more. In one performance, he was holding a golf club, signifying his lifelong love of the sport. Wagner has played in celebrity golf tournaments for decades.
The Instagram account carpoolkyleoke recapped all the clues about his career in a video post on March 7.
In his final episode of The Masked Singer, the former General Hospital star sang “One Step Closer” by Linkin Park as part of a tribute episode to Ozzy Osbourne. Osbourne's daughter, Kelly Osbourne, was a special guest judge for the episode.
Other songs that he performed on The Masked Singer include “Rocket Man” by Elton John and “American Woman” by Lenny Kravitz.
General Hospital star Wagner loved his new TV role
In the wake of his elimination and reveal, Wagner has done numerous interviews about the experience.
In one with the Pause Rewind media site posted on Instagram, the former General Hospital star talked about how he had to keep his latest role secret from everyone, including his castmates on When Calls the Heart.
He said he had to commute from the fictional Hope Valley set in Vancouver to The Masked Singer set in Los Angeles without telling his castmates what he was up to (he had to inform his bosses at Hallmark). Wagner said one trip came while filming an episode of When Calls the Heart that hasn’t aired yet, in which he has a lot of dialogue.
In a wide-ranging interview with Screen Rant, he said, “It was, I'd say, probably a lot of fun and also very challenging because it was a big costume, right? It was a bit cumbersome, but still, the songs I got to sing and the energy of the show and the whole theatricality of it was fantastic… I was flattered to be asked [to be on the show]. It's a wheelhouse for me in terms of singing and dancing, and performing. So, yeah, I was grateful to be asked and really excited to do it.”
Catch all-new episodes of General Hospital weekdays on ABC and Hulu, and The Bold and the Beautiful on CBS and Paramount Plus.
When Calls the Heart airs Sunday nights on the Hallmark Channel.
