General Hospital left us with a few questions to ponder on the Wednesday, June 4, 2026, episode. First, who is Z? And second, why would Valentin need his help getting into Wyndemere when he's never needed help before?

General Hospital plot device

Jack (Chris McKenna) gave Carly (Laura Wright) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) a piece of good advice. Go to Wyndemere to find Josslyn (Eden McCoy). Valentin asked how Jack expected them to get in there. As soon as he said that, we wondered if Valentin had lost his memory for a hot minute. Then, Jack told him his only hope for getting into Wyndemere and saving Josslyn was someone named "Z" who he had to call. Really?

Hold up now. Didn't Valentin live at Wyndemere for years? Didn't he brag about that fact to Carly a few months back when she asked him how he planned to break into Wyndemere? And didn't he do just that? He managed to get a boat, take it out to Spoon Island, and break right into the castle and walk around, remembering old times.

Ava (Maura West) even caught him in the living room looking for the safe. Valentin made an excuse and told Ava that he was Sidwell's (Carlo Rota) houseguest and it wasn't a secret that he was there.

Valentin has also been sneaking in and out of places around Port Charles for the past six months undetected, so why all the worry now?

And what about Charlotte?

Just two weeks ago, Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) bragged to Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) and Rocco (Finn Carr) that she used to live at Wyndemere, so she could get them in and out with ease. She was right. Danny and Charlotte just waltzed right in. Of course, Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) caught them, but Sidwell let them go, so it was all good.

Right now, "Z" sounds like nothing more than a plot device to get Jack working with Carly and Valentin. It's also a test for Valentin to see if he is willing to risk his freedom to save Carly's daughter. After all she has done for him over the last half a year, it's the least he can do, right? And that is what is called a plot device.
