This week on General Hospital, Jason (Steve Burton) and Serena (Kelly Kruger) met for the first time. Their interactions were a little, shall we say, birdbrained (pun intended) and fans are buzzing about their save-the-falcons mission.
Jason and Serena teamed up to rescue the falcons

Jason had a funny, perplexed look on his face when he found Serena hanging upside down from a rain gutter after she tried to rescue the falcon nest. In the soap world, we know that these goofy scenarios often set the stage for a future romance. But many Twitter fans don't see any potential for a love match between Jason and Serena.
"No spark, no chemistry, just annoying," one Twitter fan said.
"Watching paint dry would have more sparks than these two," another fan remarked.
"I don't see a spark," the fan noted. "But I also enjoyed the scenes and thought they opened her up to be more likable than we thought. Give the character some time!"
"Felt like a Jason and Maxie [Kirsten Storms] interaction," one fan observed.
"He should have left her hanging upside down," another fan said.
"Jason doesn't need to be in a romantic pairing," still another fan remarked. "He's had some great loves that can never be topped. He just needs to be a father and the resident hero at this point."
Serena was thrilled that Jason helped her save the birds

Jason is definitely portrayed as "the resident hero" of Port Charles, as he is always saving someone's life. Now, he's even saving animal lives. Did you notice how ecstatic Serena looked when he said he would retrieve the falcon nest himself? Perhaps now, she will call her father, Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner), off-screen and tell him that Jason isn't such a bad guy after all.
Unfortunately, though, the falcon rescue didn't win over most Twitter fans.
"Is Jason now going to join the Audubon Society with Serena?" one fan joked. "That will be the extent of their relationship. Bird-watching dates in the Q's backyard."
Can we picture Jason bird-watching? Most longtime GH fans would say no. But you never know. Maybe he could take that up as a hobby, now that he quit working for Sonny (Maurice Benard) and he has more time to himself.
"No chemistry whatsoever between them," one fan said. "However, their scenes were fun today. I'm glad Jason moved the peregrine falcon's nest."
Checking for ticks

When Serena asked Jason to check her hair for ticks, he didn't look too anxious to do so. But didn't Jason and Sam (Kelly Monaco) start off this way? They didn't like each other in the beginning. It's a common soap trope that many couples bicker at first and eventually fall in love.
A minority of Twitter fans evidently did notice a spark between Jason and Serena.
"First good, new prospect of anyone pairing with anyone else," one fan said.
"She seemed to have more chemistry with Jason than with Michael," another fan noted.
"It's actually a better pairing," still another fan commented. "Curious to why Serena thought Jason threatened her dad."
But most fans had totally different opinions.
"This has to be one of the most absurd possible pairings I've ever seen in watching forty years of soaps," one fan declared.
"It feels like they're throwing anyone together these days," another fan said. "Where are the epic storylines and organic personal dynamics? This intro was ridiculous."
"Only makes sense if they bring back Scotty to lose his mind," one fan remarked.
"What about a Drew/Serena pairing?" another fan proposed.
Another fan agreed, saying, "Pair her with Drew. Not Jason or Michael."
At this point, we would hate to see anyone get stuck with Drew (Cameron Mathison). Do any of the women in PC deserve him as a romantic partner? Even Ava (Maura West), his current partner in crime, called him despicable to his face.
Serena should become friends with Emma (Braedyn Bruner), since both women are animal lovers and they are both passionate about animal welfare. In any event, animal-loving GH fans are relieved that the falcons' nest has been rescued and moved to the nature preserve. Is that a sign that Jack Brennan's (Chris McKenna) body will be found soon? Let's hope so. It's been a few weeks since Drew and Ava buried him. Someone needs to find him so we can get that storyline moving again.
What do you think of Jason and Serena as a potential couple? Are they wrong for each other, or do you think they have chemistry? Sound off in the comments.
