At Turning Wood, Valentin repeated the code phrase "Ex Machina" and asked Jack why he needed to see him so badly. Jack claimed they each needed the other's help. He even thought that Valentin would help out of guilt since it was his fault Jack was in that bed. Valentin took no blame for Nina having bad aim.

Before they would help, Carly wanted answers and demanded to know where Josslyn was. Jack still insisted that he had no idea. Carly looked Jack in the eyes and decided he was telling the truth. Valentin wasn't so sure, but Carly insisted, so they heard Jack out.

Jack explained that he never trusted Cullum, so he made sure Cullum would never learn that Josslyn was a WSB agent. Valentin and Jack thought that Josslyn might have gone into hiding voluntarily, but Carly knew Joss would never leave without saying goodbye. She was sure someone had taken her daughter. Jack told them to start looking for Josslyn at Wyndemere.

When Valentin asked Jack how he expected them to get in there (didn't he live there and get in there a few months ago?), Jack told Valentin to go to a man named "Z" and give him Jack's access number. Valentin worried that it was a trap, but Jack warned him that this was the only way.

Valentin was sure that Jack was setting him up and wanted to leave. Carly stayed behind for a bit. Jack told her to make Valentin listen because he was the only way to save Josslyn. Jack assured Carly that "Z" would cut down Cullum and Sidwell. Carly realized that was all Jack really cared about.

Wyndemere happenings

In the bowels of Wyndemere, Josslyn removed a lightbulb from an overhead lamp and began fiddling with some wires.

Upstairs in the living room, Pascal immediately came to his own defense when he told Detective Joe Fitzpatrick that he had nothing to do with Marco's murder, but he might want to speak with Lucas Jones. The Deception ladies could only stare with their jaws on the floor.

Pascal began to panic and begged Sidwell to believe in his loyalty. Just then, the lights went out, which frightened the people in the living room, but gave Josslyn a moment of glee.

The brouhaha gave Pascal a chance to run before the generator kicked in. Sidwell led the Deception ladies out of the house while Joe put an APB out on Pascal. Sidwell asked Joe to search the grounds, but Joe wanted to see Pascal's room first. That's where he found a photo of Marco in Pascal's drawer, which surprised Sidwell. Joe advised Sidwell to not jump to conclusions and let the cops handle things, but Sidwell was not about to do that.

Back downstairs, Josslyn managed to use one of Anna's tools to get the door open. She walked right up into the foyer, but when she tried to leave the castle, Sidwell was standing right outside with a gun.

Finding Pascal

Sonny, Laura, and Lucas regrouped at the Corinthos Coffee warehouse, where they waited to see if Pascal took the bait. Sonny was sure that Pascal would need their help protecting him from Sidwell. Laura was thrilled when she got word that Pascal took off the second he could, and Sidwell was calling for his arrest.

Lucas was sure that Sidwell would have killed Pascal if the butler hadn't run when he did. Sonny thanked Lucas for his help before leaving to try to find Pascal himself. Once alone with Laura, Lucas worried that he had given the cops two suspects — him and Marco. Laura assured Lucas that he did the right thing and that it would all work out.

As for Pascal, he found his car parked on the mainland, but when he tried to start it up, Sonny appeared at the passenger side window with wires he'd removed, asking Pascal if he needed a lift.

Lucy's pep talk

After their trip to Spoon Island, the Deception ladies made their way back to the Q solarium, where they discussed what had just happened on Spoon Island. Lucy never trusted that butler anyway, but worried he may have poisoned their tea. A frustrated Tracy decided to go for a walk.

Lucy apologized to Brook Lynn for getting Sidwell so involved with Deception. She wished she'd never made that mistake. Brook Lynn pointed out she's made a million mistakes, but you have to just look toward the future. Lucy told Brook Lynn that's a thing a mom would say.

Brook Lynn went on and on about how she and Chase couldn't wait to adopt Phoebe. Being a co-parent with him has been a dream. Lucy just hoped that Brook Lynn could forgive Chase for throwing away his whole career over his ex-wife. Brook Lynn put on a smile and said that was water under the bridge.

Detective Chase goes to Washington...maybe...

Willow and Chase continued their journey down memory lane outside the Q boathouse, with Willow becoming alarmed when she saw a huge spider. Chase came to her rescue and disposed of the spider in the lake.

Willow then checked her messages and showed Chase what a great congresswoman she is, pushing for affordable housing and climate initiatives. Chase was impressed with her wheeling and dealing side. Chase then lamented his own job as a beat cop.

Willow didn't think it was fair that Chase got demoted to help set her free and she became a congresswoman in the end. Maybe she could help Chase and give him a job more worthy of his talents. She wanted Chase to be her new chief of staff. She felt Chase could open doors for her because he was a man and could get her the right contacts in DC.

When Willow put her hand on Chase's arm, Tracy happened by but quickly hid when she saw the scene she was walking into. After Willow finally left, an angry Tracy made her presence known. "You have cheated on my granddaughter for the very last time," she said.

Kristina and Michael met up at Bobbie's so Kristina could ask her brother for a favor. She needed him to hear her out and offer his opinion on her going to medical school. Like Molly, Michael was shocked at Kristina's career plans. He was even more shocked to learn she was moving to Los Angeles.

Kristina explained that she'd been thinking of this for a while and took the MCAT just to see how she would do. When she got a great score, she chose to apply to medical school, but never thought she'd get in. Studying for the MCAT made her see she loved medicine and this was what she really wanted to do.

Michael was supportive, but understood Kristina's worries that she would start this new journey and end up flaking. Still, he reminded her that lots of people try out different careers before finding the right fit.
