General Hospital viewers have been without the show's favorite lady lawwoman, Anna Devane, for way too long. Word came today from Mayor Laura Collins that Anna's situation has gone from bad to worse, as Laura shared that Anna's escape attempt from the overseas institution she's been residing in has resulted in her being confined even further. Bummer. We want Anna back! General Hospital, all about AnnaEmma is deeply concerned about her grandmother, Anna, on General Hospital | Image: ABCGH wisely chose Laura (Genie Francis) to relay the expository story details that updated Emma (Braedyn Bruner), Mac (John J. York), and Felicia (Kristina Wagner) as to Anna's situation. We'd watch Francis read the phone book if that's what GH wanted her to do; today, we got her retelling what had occurred off-screen with Anna.Laura compassionately broke the news to Anna's loved ones, especially her granddaughter, Emma, that the former WSB agent was being transferred to a "Unité pour Malades Difficiles." Unfortunately, that's not a wing of the Louvre where she'd dine on French cuisine. Laura explained that a UMD stood for a prison for difficult prisoners. The only problem with exposition is that viewers would have rather seen Anna make the ambitious escape attempt that Laura described rather than just hearing about it. We need an Anna fix on-screen -- not an update that she's going to be away even longer. But maybe she's not. The show hasn't announced anything, but actor Chris McKenna (Brennan) shared on X, formerly Twitter, that Finola is on her way back! He shared that tidbit of information on April 11. If the show is approximately 5 to 6 weeks ahead, then this means that we just might be seeing Anna back on our screens any day now! It can't be soon enough! For some reason, everyone believes that Anna is wrong to believe that Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) is alive. Yes, we all believe him to be dead, but how many times has the evil villain cheated death? Death does not become himFrankly, we stopped counting, but there are a few examples. In 1992, Faison was presumed dead in a boat explosion that not only he survived, but so did Anna and Scorpio (Tristan Rogers). Supposably (yep, that's a word now), the late Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) also did Faison in, but he survived those "deaths," too! Faison was said to have met his maker and gone to that great soap opera in the sky after being shot by Jason. He died of cardiac arrest, but how can some die from heart failure if they don't even have a heart! Seriously, some supervillains have a supernatural edge to them. That's why we accepted the numerous returns of antagonists James Stenbeck (Anthony Herrera) on As the World Turns and Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) on Days of our Lives. If they were making a Mount Rushmore of eternal villains, Cesar Faison would be on it! So is Hughes and Anna's absence on GH going to be extended -- or do we take McKenna's tweet at its word and keep our fingers crossed in anticipation of the legendary Anna Devane gracing our screens once again?Catch all-new episodes of General Hospital weekdays on ABC and Hulu.
