General Hospital's Jason chooses Elizabeth's new man

General Hospital's Jason and Elizabeth is one love story that was never meant to be endgame, even after keeping legions of fans intrigued by their relationship for decades. Currently, Jason is in an international prison and Elizabeth has two eligible bachelors smitten with her. Since she can only have one (at a time?), Jason himself, aka Steve Burton, has weighed in on the matter.

On a recent episode of Burton and Bradford Anderson's "That's Awesome" podcast, the actors discussed Elizabeth's (Rebecca Herbst) current love life. While Liz is dating Ric (Rick Hearst) and says she sees it finally working out this time, Dante clearly has his eyes on Liz. In fact, he warned her to be careful of Ric. Yes, the man is Dante's (Dominic Zamprogna) uncle, but Dante doesn't trust him.

Jason also doesn't usually trust Ric and was surprised when Sonny hired him to be his new personal attorney. When he returns from prison this summer, he will be surprised just how close Ric and Sonny have become, and will likely be surprised to see how close Ric is with Elizabeth, as well.

"It’s interesting [to see] what they are going to write my perspective to be with Ric really back in the picture," Burton said, noting that Jason probably won't understand what Elizabeth is thinking.

Burton also doesn't think that Ric has changed, despite Ric's claims.

"If it’s Ric who’s changed but probably hasn’t, from Steve’s standpoint [rather than Jason’s], it could be a different result," Burton said. "But if he hasn’t [changed] and the old Ric is gonna come out, that’s good for story, too."

And then there is Dante, with whom Elizabeth has grown quite friendly over the last few months. In fact, Liz has become Dante's confidante as he's been navigating the Rocco mess. Burton definitely thinks Dante is the better choice for his alter-ego's ex-flame.

"I'm rooting for Dante," Burton told Anderson. "I head-butted him, and he was still looking out for me."

Indeed, and Dante will probably look out for Jason even more now that he knows Jason went to prison to protect his son. With Jason pulling for Dante, how can Elizabeth choose Ric, right?
