General Hospital star Paige Herschell, who is a talented singer when she’s not playing Jacinda Bracken in Port Charles, has released a new album with her music group!

Herschell performs in a swing jazz band called San Lyon. She is the lead singer of the group, which plays big-band jazz and other types of music from the early 1900s. They also write and record their own music.

Herschell and the band have released a new album of original songs in their classic style. The album is called “San Lyon & Friends,” and is available for sampling and purchasing on the Band Camp music service.

The album has 11 songs, and features collaborations with several friends of the band, including Herschell’s longtime romantic partner, Drew Cash.

The band shared the news on its Instagram account, saying, “At long last! We are so happy to have collaborated with our friends to make this all original eleven track album! Thank you for your support along the way. It has been a labor of love. We hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it!” Herschell also promoted the album in a video on her Instagram Stories.

The band has recorded earlier albums and standalone singles, which are available on Spotify and YouTube. Herschell has recorded music for other projects this year as well.

In a recent interview with actress Taj Young on Young’s “About That Life” podcast, Herschell previewed the album and described how the band got together and picked its name. The “San” comes from the hometowns of Herschell (San Antonio, Texas) and bandmate Dani Vargas (Santiago, Chile). Another member, Jenna Colombet, is from Lyon, France. Three of the songs on the new album have French titles.

The General Hospital actor said that around 2018 she became friends with Vargas and Colombet, and they started playing jazz music together for fun. When the pandemic hit in 2020 and things shut down, they decided to use that extra time to write and record music. In 2022, they added bass player Katie Cavera and started performing in clubs, which they frequently do now.

“We used the pandemic to discover what we like about music, certain aspects of it,” Herschell said. “We’re really proud of (the album). It was a labor of love. It’s awesome that we came together as friends.”

Also in the interview with Young, the General Hospital star went into detail about how she became an actor. She said she started out as a “dance kid,” doing recitals, but didn’t enjoy that as much as theater camps. She recounted a time when she was a preteen, doing a parody of the famous Will Smith film Men in Black, and getting a lot of the laughs in the theater. She described the joy of getting that reaction from the audience and how it gave her the acting bug.

She also talked about working with Lea Thompson (Back to the Future) on a Hallmark movie in Connecticut called Next Stop, Christmas, noting that was one of her most favorite projects.

From call girl to Crimson on General Hospital

Herschell said she is grateful for playing Jacinda on General Hospital. She had auditioned for GH several times before landing the role of the self-confident call girl, which she joked was much different than she is in real life.

Herschell said after doing a few episodes in early 2025, she was thrilled to be invited back and play Jacinda as she has become a more important part of the General Hospital canvas in recent months. Jacinda is now an assistant at Crimson and in a romance with Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson). She recently revealed to MIchael that she had a traumatic relationship with an older man while she was in high school, which caused her to become an escort to pay the bills.

Jacinda started out as a strong and confident “bad girl” who stood up to powerful people in Port Charles and was a fierce negotiator. Since starting to fall in love with Michael, Jacinda has shown that she has kindness and heart as well.

“Jacinda has evolved, which is really interesting,” Herschell said. “I’ve seen how they’re showing her softer, more vulnerable side, which I’m grateful for because I feel like I can show more of my humanity in her … She’s got some good in her and she’s finding her redemption.”

She talked about adjusting to the fast pace of General Hospital, doing scenes in one or two takes and working with multiple cameras. She loves working with numerous directors and the cast.

“You get to constantly work with new people, and you never know who is going to spark something in you and where it’s going to go,’ Herschell said. “Everyone is so open and available, from an actor’s standpoint, to be receiving and giving. Everyone is so nice, so centered and so professional.”
