General Hospital's Jenz Sidwell has essentially taken over Port Charles, but he might not realize he has met his match. It's always the quiet ones, Jenz. Just remember that. While this big bad has his hands in just about every storyline, working magic behind the scenes, he put someone in front of the camera that EVERYONE underestimates. Will that be his downfall? Hopefully, because oh what joyous fun! So, let's dig in with those two scoops and dissect the weird and wacky week that was in
What is Sidwell NOT up to?

When GH first introduced Sidwell to the scene in 2024, we weren't sure what to think and believed he was a one-off big bad whose only purpose was to usher in the return of the not-so-great and not-so-powerful Lucky. A year and a half later, Lucky has regressed back to his typical adolescent self as he explores the world with no responsibilities. And Sidwell? Well, he rules it all. He lords over Wyndemere and Spoon Island with sheer and utter delight, has his hands in just about every story, and doesn't even have a problem with pulling out a gun and shooting someone dead in his living room before picking up his drink and resuming his day.
We even think Sidwell is Pikeman. Or maybe Cullum is Pikeman. Or maybe they are both Pikeman or nobody is Pikeman. (We just know that Valentin and Jack are not Pikeman.) But after all these years, someone has to be Pikeman, no? After all, he has Britt in his basement building what sounds very much like a nuclear weapon and isn't that Pikeman's shtick? And thanks to this "Faison's Final Project" business (is Faison Pikeman?), Sidwell is also the keeper of Britt's meds.
And what else is Sidwell involved in? Let's see. He has Sonny's piers, but that seems to tie back to importing rare and illegal minerals, which may be needed for whatever the heck Britt is building in his secret lab. That also puts him smack dab in the middle of the Deception plot. Now that Maxie is back and has his number, we can resume that zincite plot.
Sidwell is also the political puppet master of Port Charles and has multiple local politicians under his thumb. Go-with-the-flow Ezra is just along for the ride. Laura is a reluctant victim of extortion. And Willow? Well, she has her own agenda and doesn't seem like she is going to let a pesky nuisance like Sidwell get in her way.
Sidwell very quickly figured out that Willow was the one who shot Drew (and so did we), so he offered to do her a solid and gave her the paralytic drugs that keep Drew bedridden and mute (thank you, Jenz). However, like Drew, Sidwell might learn the hard way to never, ever underestimate Willow.
Be careful of the quiet ones

How many lives can Willow lead? Our 2018 cult member turned schoolteacher morphed into a dedicated nurse before morphing into a cancer martyr, who was miraculously saved after neglecting to treat her disease. Willow went back to nursing before she became a cancer treatment spokesperson (yes, the girl who didn't treat her cancer till she almost died). In 2025, Willow went back to her cult roots and joined Dawn of Drew, but now she's shed that skin and has emerged as...Congresswoman Willow Tait Cain, peach power suit and all.
Poor, long-suffering Willow is ready to put on her noble martyr hat yet again due to her poor husband's misfortune. She studied the demeanor and the eye makeup of other current women who pick up the torch their husbands dropped, backed by the people who backed him. While there were no pyrotechnics (except the proverbial ones in Alexis' head) going off when Laura made the announcement that Willow would be taking Drew's congressional throne, the scene looked eerily familiar. Sidwell was pleased as punch, but he might not be so pleased in the near future.
So, Jenz, listen up. You may have just met your match. Miss Sweet, Pure and Perfect, is anything but, and you know that. Look how happily she took that drug from you. This woman shot a congressman in the back twice and managed to weep her way to an acquittal. Do you really think she won't plug you if you get in her way? Just wait till she finds out you were the one who gave Michael her kids. Jenz, oh Jenz, be careful what you wish for...
The best laid plans. Sigh.

Poor, poor Alexis. And poor, poor Laura, who was right. There was nobody better in Port Charles to send to Washington than Alexis, our crusader for good, despite the many times she has done something bad. (You know, like when she tied her ex-husband to a gurney in her basement with a ball gag in his mouth for a month.)
Our hearts broke for both Alexis and Laura as they watched Willow morph into Tracy Flick from Election. It was also quite a letdown for us because we wanted to see Alexis and Willow run against one another for Drew's seat and pray that it could still happen. Alexis can already taste that congressional seat, so when special election time rolls around, we expect Alexis to declare her candidacy and hold a little tidbit over Willow's head — she knows Willow shot Drew. Willow can shoot right back (so to speak), telling her that "Jenz" also knows she shot Drew and holds oh-so-many cards. Alexis vs. Willow? Bring it.
Well, that was easy

All that worrying for nothing, huh, Spinelli? We think Nathan also did some worrying. He worried that Maxie might want to resume married life seven years later, which meant he couldn't have Lulu. Welp, Maxie fixed that problem in the blink of an eye. She wants Spinelli. And boy is Nathan happy. Liesl might not be happy might still be torn. But Nathan is happy. And Maxie is happy. And Spinelli is the happiest of all. There has to be more to this, right? Like, is that really Nathan or is Lulu going to find herself in a whole lotta trouble?
Not all heroes wear capes

Awww, look at Lucas ready to play hero for Britt. Even Britt thought it was absolutely adorable and is happy to accept Lucas' help. She is tired of trying to build the atom bomb or whatever it is she is doing in Sidwell's basement. She just wants to live her life in peace, with Jason, of course, so there will be mob stuff happening. But there would also be peace when the mob stuff isn't happening. And sex. Lots of sex. If only she could get her hands on her meds, which are likely just saline anyway.
And the jury is still out on whether Lucas is just plain dumb or not. He is certainly in way over his head, but when he told Marco everything Britt told him, we were ready to scream. Lucas! What are you thinking?!?!? We don't know if we can trust Marco. He hasn't told his dad what you know, but he might if it could get Sidwell to take care of Sonny, who is actually not responsible for Natalia's death, no matter what Marco wants to believe.
The couple we never knew we wanted, part 1

We have no idea if Carly and Valentin are actually a potential pair or not, but at this point, we want them to be. We are not sure what is going on with Anna, but who can deny the chemistry between Laura Wright and James Patrick Stuart? The problem is, we can see GH trying to redeem Jack by having him regret recruiting Josslyn to the WSB, which means that Carly and Jack might be endgame. Plus, Valentin comes in and out of the story like a thief in the night and Carly needs someone who is going to stick around Port Charles. But we love them together, which is the most unexpected thing GH gave us last year.
The couple we never knew we wanted, part 2

This year, the most unexpected thing could be Dante and Elizabeth, but it is early in the year, so who knows what can actually happen? That doesn't mean we aren't stunned and pleased at this new development. Dante is genuinely smitten with Elizabeth and has a genuine crush. After watching him mourn Sam for nearly a year and a half, seeing that little smile on his face as Liz walked away was pure joy. Dante needs to smile more. And Liz? Well, she was absolutely beaming as she realized how much she just loves talking to Dante. Add Ric into the mix and Elizabeth won't know where to turn, so bring on the soapy.
The General Hospital couple we always needed

The most surprising thing to happen to Gio was Emma and he told her that in no uncertain terms. (Although we are sure that learning Dante and Brook Lynn were his parents ranks right up there.) How lovely are Gio and Emma, better known as Gemma. They are a throwback to our classic young love stories of yesteryear. Their relationship developed from an adorable friendship to a deep and abiding love. They are each other's person and we wouldn't have it any other way.
Till next week, Scoopers, when everything that can happen likely happens at Wyndemere. Buckle up.
