GH Recap July 17: Joss Drops a WSB Bomb, Valentin Has the Big Black Box, Jack Makes His Move on Nina

On the Friday, July 17, 2026, episode of General Hospital, Valentin made his feelings clear to Carly, Sonny gave Brick a new job, Josslyn told the truth, and a night at the Brown Dog became revealing.

Carly dropped by Sonny's house late at night to drop off Donna, so he questioned her about Valentin some more. He asked if Carly had introduced Donna to Valentin. She said she hadn't, but also knew that Sonny was only bothered that she was sleeping with Valentin. Carly told Sonny to mind his business, but as she opened the door to leave, she found Brick on the other side.

After Sonny put Donna to bed, he sat down with Brick and told him he needed his help breaking up Carly and Valentin. Brick was surprised to hear that Valentin was behind the bipolar med switch. "I'm not trying to control Carly, but Valentin needs to be removed," Sonny said.

Brick had to inform Sonny that he respected Carly too much to do anything behind her back. He'd dig for information and present it to Carly, but that was it.

The Black Box

When Carly got home, Valentin was back in the kitchen, cutting veggies and sipping wine. She was happy to see him there and told him that Sonny doesn't get to rule her life. Carly also mentioned that she ran into Emma at the pool, who said he had been by to see Anna.

Valentin said he had just wanted to make sure she was okay, but noticed the look on Carly's face. Carly knew he would always have feelings for Anna, which Valentin admitted was true. He just saw the situation as similar to the one Carly has with Sonny. They would always love each other and have each other's backs, but they couldn't be together.

He promised Carly he wouldn't let his past with Anna affect what they had now. Carly reminded him that he was looking for Anna when he first showed up at her house. "But I found you, and it changed everything," Valentin said.

As they began to kiss, Carly backed up and tripped over...Jack's black box. (So now we know who was at Wyndemere.) Valentin admitted that was what it was. He took it to have leverage over the WSB so they'd release his assets. He wasn't even sure who the box belonged to, but he was determined to get it open.

A Night at the Brown Dog

Jack and Nina sat down at the Brown Dog bar after their fruitless Wyndemere adventure. Nina admitted that she didn't feel Jack was truly motivated to help her and Willow. Jack claimed that wasn't true. He wanted to find his black box for himself, too. He worried that the WSB was ready to fire or transfer him somewhere bad after the Cullum debacle.

Jack was also curious where Nina would draw the line with her nutty daughter. Nina said that there was no line. She told Jack about being raised by Madeline and promising herself to always be there for her children. Then, her kids were taken from her and had horrible upbringings. Jack seemed to understand.

In fact, Jack grew tipsy and relaxed and even told Nina that he was sorry for forcing her to manipulate Charlotte so she could help Willow. He should have just asked her to dinner instead because he would have gotten to know her better. Jack even grabbed Nina and kissed her.

At a table, Lulu sat with a miraculously cured Ethan and lamented her situation with Charlotte and Valentin. Ethan sympathized, especially after knowing what she's dealing with regarding Rocco and Cassius. Ethan tried to make his sister feel better by reminding her that Cassius had risked a lot to be with her, which meant his feelings were likely real.

Lulu changed the subject and apologized to Ethan for not visiting while he was in the hospital. Ethan said he was fine because he had Ava, which prompted him to ask Lulu what he knew about her. Lulu surmised that Ethan was interested in Ava. She also warned Ethan that Ava was dangerous. Ethan had to admit that Ava was attractive, but Lulu still called her lethal.

All About Phoebe

Brook Lynn was surprised to welcome Ava to the Q solarium with a gift for Phoebe. The two ladies sat down to chat, with Ava asking some casual questions about the adoption and Brook Lynn thanking Ava for her help in finding Phoebe's father. Brook Lynn realized she had an opening, so she asked Ava if she knew who Phoebe's father was. She wanted to pay him if she had to, so he wouldn't try to take Phoebe away.

When Ava hesitated, Brook Lynn accused her of stopping by to fish for info and asked if she had found Phoebe's father in New York. Ava claimed that she personally had not and did not have any answers for her. She urged Brook Lynn to leave well enough alone.

Love in the Afternoon

In the Q stables, Molly tried to comfort Cody after what had happened with James. He knew telling James the truth was going to be hard, but this was much more difficult than he expected. Molly assured Cody that he did the right thing. "You are the hero," he said.

Cody was clearly broken up, even crediting James with making him want to be a better person and tell Mac the truth that he was his son. He would have left town if it weren't for James, so Molly realized she owed the little boy a lot because he brought Cody into her life.

As they sat down and made s'mores, Molly admitted she had been waiting for Cody to tell her that he loved her. But instead, watching him with James made her want to say it first, so she told Cody that she loved him.

WSB Agent and Professional Singer

Trina ran, rushing into Josslyn's room, angry that her BFF hadn't told her she had been shot. Stella had told Trina that Josslyn had been admitted. Trina demanded to know how Josslyn got shot. Joss said the answer was simple, but the reason was complicated. Trina just wanted honesty, so Josslyn just said it: "I got shot in the line of duty. I'm a WSB agent."

Trina just stood there in disbelief, waiting for a real explanation. Josslyn explained exactly how and why she became a WSB agent, starting with killing Cyrus after learning he had murdered Dex. Even Trina thought it was disturbing that Jack had played on Josslyn's guilt to recruit her to life as a super spy.

Trina was relieved to finally understand what had been going on with Joss for the last year, but was still angry at all the secrets and lies. Joss knew her choices had cost her a lot, but prayed they hadn't cost her Trina, who filled her in on her life. Josslyn felt awful that she and Trina had grown so distant from one another.

Joss suddenly grew frantic and grabbed Trina's hand. Through tears, she begged Trina not to abandon their long friendship. Trina wouldn't, as long as Josslyn stopped lying to her. If Josslyn couldn't tell her something, she would say, "Popcorn."
