Alley Mills: Alley Mills Brings Delightful and Diabolical Heather Back to General Hospital

General Hospital is welcoming back Alley Mills as Heather Webber. The actress has won two Daytime Emmys for her portrayal of the killer known as "The Hook."

The actress last appeared on GH about two years ago. It appeared as if Heather was going away for a long time after going on a killing spree for the sake of her daughter, Esme (Avery Pohl).

It turned out, however, that Heather had had a new hip put in, and cobalt poisoning from the procedure caused her to go off the deep end. The LSD she took way back in 1980 by accident probably didn't help either!

"We’re thrilled to have Alley Mills back as Heather," Frank Valentini, executive producer, said. "There’s never a dull moment when Heather Webber is in Port Charles, and Alley is ready to stir up some trouble!”

Three other performers played the part of Heather Grant Webber. The character came to GH 50 years ago in 1976! Georganne LaPiere, Cher's half-sister, originated the role. Then, Mary O'Brien took on the part and played her from 1977 to 1979.

During this time, Heather was determined to get her son, Steven Lars, back from Diana (Brooke Bundy) and Peter Taylor (Craig Hubenig), who had adopted him, naming the little boy P.J.

Peter died of a heart attack after finding out the shocking news that P.J. and Steven Lars were the same little boy. After his death, Diana learned that P.J. was Jeff's (Richard Dean Anderson) son, and she readied herself to marry him so that she could more likely keep custody if she was wed to her son's dad.

Heather attempted to kill Diana by lacing her iced tea with LSD. Little PJ switched the drinks inadvertently. Heather took the drug by mistake and had a breakdown. She was institutionalized. When she returned to Port Charles a few years later, Robin Mattson was playing the part.

That marriage never came to be. Diana died after being shot in her own apartment. The name "Anne" was written in Diana's own blood on the floor. Heather scribbled the name of her rival, Annie Logan, played by Susan Pratt.

Later, Heather's mother, Alice (Lieux Dressler), confessed that she had gone to Diana's apartment that night to stop Heather. There was a struggle, and Alice killed Diana, she said, to stop Diana from killing Heather.

Heather left Port Charles a few years later, returning sporadically to stir up trouble, as she did with Scotty (Kin Shriner) when the two of them schemed against Heather's cousin, Susan (Gail Ramsey), the mother of Jason (Steve Burton).

Heather returned in 2022 when Mills was cast in the part. The actress is known to TV fans as Norma on The Wonder Years, and for the role of Pam Douglas, sister of the late Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery), on The Bold and the Beautiful.

Mills was revealed to be the former lover of psychotic Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) and the mother of their child, Esme.

Mills won two Daytime Emmys for playing Heather, both in the category of Outstanding Guest Performer. Her first came in 2023, and her bookend statuette was handed to her in 2025.
