Could Carly’s plan on General Hospital turn into a catacombs adventure?

On General Hospital, Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) told Carly (Laura Wright) the way into Wyndemere wasn’t the obvious one. It ran from the catacombs through a hidden entrance buried inside the castle walls. Carly still said she’d go herself.

Her cover story was simple enough to say with a straight face: Sidwell (Carlo Rota) wanted her to make peace with Lucas (Van Hansis), and she was going to do it. But the minute she stepped onto Spoon Island with that excuse in her pocket, it started to feel like the real question wasn’t whether she’d get inside, but who she’d bring down there with her.

General Hospital’s Lucas may be in the line of fire

Carly volunteering herself isn’t heroics, but control. She’s making the risk her own, keeping Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) out of the blast radius, and is trying to prevent Valentin from becoming the headline.

Lucas was the soft spot on that island, whether anyone wanted to admit it or not. He’d been jumpy, unsettled by Pascal (Marc Forget) appearing out of nowhere and tired of feeling like the last one to know what was happening.

Carly won’t have to order him into danger. She only has to plant the idea and let Lucas do what Lucas always does when he feels cornered: prove he’s not powerless. He had already expressed an interest in revisiting the catacombs, and that’s the perfect in for Carly

The Catacombs have a long history

The catacombs have never been a cute GH myth. They are a 150-year-old maze built for smuggling, hiding, and disappearing, with a history of being used for survival whenever someone got too curious.

They run under Port Charles, stretching out to Spoon Island, linking Port Charles to Wyndemere in ways that make every locked door there feel optional. The Triad had used them. The Cassadines had benefited from them. The tunnels were practically an invitation to do something reckless.

Lucas had mentioned that he used to go down there as a kid, but Marco warned him to stay away. Lucas brushed it off anyway, because warnings sounded like challenges to him.

If Carly needed access, Lucas wandering down there “accidentally” solves the problem without Carly looking like she engineered anything. And if the tunnels bite back, the fallout lands on Lucas, not on Carly or Valentin. That was the part that made the plan feel dangerous. Not the catacombs themselves, but how clean Carly’s hands could stay while someone else got lost in the dark.

General Hospital is available on ABC and Hulu.
