General Hospital fans fell for bad boy Julian Jerome, played by Daytime Emmy nominee William deVry, from the second he set foot in Port Charles. Julian, alas, has gone to that great soap in the sky (or has he?), but deVry can be seen in an upcoming feature in which he plays an equally complex character.

William deVry is starring in the film SPILL, directed by Blake Ridder (Manor of Darkness; James Bond - No Time to Die Fan Film), which tells the story of a simple house-cleaning job that turns into a fight for survival when a desperate woman is caught between a grieving loner and a violent figure from his past. Ridder also stars in the film as Vincent.

"I was attracted to this role [of Andy] because, to be frank, he has no redeeming qualities," deVry tells Soap Central in this exclusive interview. "Usually, when you take on the role of a psychopath, you try to find something you can lean into that makes him justified in his actions. With this role, I had to let go of all that and accept that the audience would hate him."

The actor says that audiences will root for the character of Sofia, played by Sofia Unal, an innocent "gig" worker who shows up at the wrong apartment, which sends her on a dangerous journey.

William deVry shares that SPILL was filmed last summer in both Hollywood and Apple Valley. "It was pretty hot, but I loved the experience," says the actor, who adds that he appreciates the director's confidence in him. "Blake was very easy to work with, allowing for some collaboration to a certain extent. He really just let me do my thing."

Of his other co-stars, John Senese (David) and Sofia Unal (Sofia), deVry muses, "John's a veteran actor, but we had never met before this, and Sofia is fairly new, but you would never know it from her authentic and heartbreaking, yet very powerful performance."

William deVry is set to attend a screening of the film, followed by a Q&A, on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Lumiere Cinema, 9036 Wilshire Blvd, Beverly Hills, CA 90211. Here's ticket information if you'd like to attend the screening.

A look back at Julexis

William deVry worked opposite a few different leading ladies during his time on GH, but his pairing with Daytime Emmy-winner Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) propelled both the pair to a supercouple stardom, the kind that's not as common on daytime as it was in the 1980s.

Fans embraced the duo, bestowing upon the characters the "smush" name "Julexis."

"Working with Nancy was like working with [the late] Anthony Geary [ex-Luke]," says deVry. "You're working with a legend. You are working with an actor who is the epitome of talent. There were some edges that we had to work out, but from the very beginning, I think it worked because we respected and trusted each other.

"We both tend not to get in our own way as far as what our fans expect, or what we are trying to portray to our fans, or what we want them to see," he explains. "We were both true to the work given us and just let it ride. [Nancy's] a beautiful woman, so it wasn't really difficult to find the chemistry with Nancy. In fact, it was pretty spontaneous. Fans can see through [what's not authentic], and they saw the fire."

Soap Central will update readers on where and when SPILL will be available.
