General Hospital alumni Jacob Young said goodbye to Lucky Spencer in 2003 to take on the role of All My Children's JR Chandler. Now, the actor is taking on a new role in the film A Murder Between Friends, and he's speculating on the story that he'd return to GH for, if invited.

Young was cast on GH in late 1999 and played the part of Lucky Spencer from 2000 to 2003. In 2002, he won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Young Actor in a Drama Series for playing Luke (the late Anthony Geary) and Laura's (Genie Francis) son.

Young's Lucky had something in common with his grandmother, Lesley (the late Denise Alexander), in that both characters had been held captive by the Cassadines and needed time to decompress following their respective rescues.

There have been published reports that General Hospital is planning a tribute to Lesley once her passing is written into the show. "I would be open [to coming back for that]," Young told Soap Central.

The actor hastens to add that he's fully aware that he may not be the performer fans think of when they remember Lucky. "I know people don't always think of me as Lucky Spencer because Jonathan Jackson had done such a great job, but I would be more than happy to step in for a while."

Young adds that he may not be up for a contract run, "but, you know, an arc or something."

A Movie Between Friends

Now, Young can be seen in the movie A Murder Between Friends, which he also directed. The film, described as a playful Agatha Christie-type movie, tells the story of a group of friends who visit the estate of TV legend Francesca Carlyle, played by Golden Globe-winning actress Joan Collins, best known to soap fans as the legendary Alexis Morell Carrington Colby Dexter on Dynasty.

Francesca, described as part Auntie Mamie and part Angela Lansbury (Murder She Wrote), sets out to solve a murder that takes place. Nadia Bjorlin (ex-Chloe, Days of our Lives) plays Kate in the movie. Young says his friendship with Bjorlin dates back 25 years, when they were both appearing on soap operas.

"I've known Nadia since I was 17," Young warmly recalls. "I wanted somebody who was able to handle dialogue and get it done in a very professional and sophisticated way, and Nadia did that."

Young not only appears in the film as Josh, but he also directed the movie. What was the big lesson Young learned as the movie's director? "That's a great question," the former General Hospital heartthrob responds. "Every day had a walkaway lesson. I would meet with my team every night and ask, 'What could we have done better? What did we do that was great?' The most important key is to make sure that you talk to your team every single day."

A Murder Between Friends can be seen on Amazon Video, Apple TV, and other Video on Demand (VOD) platforms.
