General Hospital thrilled fans when it revealed that Cassius survived being shot by Cullum. Ryan Paevey, Cassius' portrayer, brought a joy to his supporters last weekend with a standing room only event at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport during GH Fan Club Weekend, where he addressed his future with the ABC soap opera. Soap Central was on the scene and has the exclusive scoop!

Cassius V. Nathan

Among the many questions that Paevey was asked was whether he preferred good guy Nathan or his "evil" (who ended up not being so evil after all) twin.

"Cassius," Paevey replied. "Nathan was lovely. He was adorable." The actor went on to describe the role of Maxie's (Kirsten Storms) husband as, well, an accessory. "Don't get me wrong," he hastened to add. "I mean that as no insult to the writers or anything like that. We all have a function that we serve [in terms of storylines].

"Either you're a big part of a big, powerful family and you're doing stuff [or] you're part of a big company," he muses. "I was a part of a couple."

Paevey does not disagree that lawmen on soaps don't always catch who they're after. Where would the conflict be if all the perpetrators were in prison? "There was an episode, I don't know when it was," recalls Paevey, referring to a moment in which Nathan was chasing after Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) for some reason.

"We ran to a table [in the shape of an oval], and we ended up at opposite sides of it," Paevey says. "I swear, [Spinelli] did something along the lines of, 'Oh, my God! What is THAT?'"

Nathan turned to see what Spinelli was referring to (nothing was there, of course). "And then, he was gone," Paevey recollects.

The actor adds that what made Cassius cool to him was that he got to work with many people and do many different kinds of things. He recalls sharing scenes with Maurice Benard's Sonny and Cassius handing a gun to Laura Wright's Carly at Wyndemere so she could protect herself.

"It was fun," he says. "I got to do fun stuff. There was a lot of stuff going on, and I loved it."

Future WSB Agent of Chaos

You could have heard a pin drop in the room at Paevey's event after he was asked whether or not he'd return to GH, a real possibility now that we know the character is alive.

"That's a 'Frank chat,'" Paevey responded to how his return would need to be discussed with the show's executive producer, Frank Valentini. "I'm a bit of a drifter. So, I'm not sure that I want to go back and sign forever. Doing so took a lot of things out of my life, stuff that is valuable to me."

Paevey revealed that during his time away from GH, he took on the role of parental caretaker to his parents. He also saw a setback to his jewelry business, Fortunate Wanderer.

"But, yeah, I would come back and stir the pot if Cassius could be a good agent of chaos," the actor stated. "A conversation could be had, and a conversation might be had with Frank about exactly what 'not dead' means."
