The fan favorite hadn't been on a daytime drama in over a decade, since he was Stavros on General Hospital, but he was remembered for his soap roles as both a hero and a villain. While a cause of death hasn't been released, Page Six has details about the moments leading up to his passing. The actor was suffering cardiac arrest when first responders showed up at his home. They tried in vain to save his life. According to Kyle Gaines, division chief and public information officer, St. Charles County Ambulance District, "first responders and paramedics responded to a call for an adult male patient for cardiac arrest. They were dispatched where paramedics and first responders provided advanced life-saving protocol techniques. Unfortunately, the patient was pronounced deceased on scene."According to law enforcement, there was nothing suspicious at the scene. Bay City, Salem, and Port Charles View this post on Instagram Instagram PostKelker-Kelly began his soap opera career as Sam Fowler on AW. He was paired with Sandra Dee Robinson's Amanda. Even before Sam and Amanda married, the characters were related -- sort of. Sam's half-brother was Mitch Blake (William Grey Espy), who fathered Matthew Cory (Matt Crane), who was Amanda's half-brother, as they share the same mother, Rachel Cory (Victoria Wyndham). After spending two years in Bay City, Kelker-Kelly's next soap was DAYS. Kelker-Kelly did the impossible by taking over the role of Bo Brady, created by Peter Reckell. Kelker-Kelly made the role (that many felt was unrecastable) his own.Kelker-Kelly left DAYS in 1995, and Reckell returned to the role. Next, Kelker-Kelly returned to AW, but he didn't reprise Sam. Instead, he was cast as Bobby Reno, a man who received the corneas of the late Ryan Harrison (Paul Michael Valley). Later, it was revealed that Bobby was Dr. Shane Roberts. Shane died in a car crash in 1998. AW ended in 1999.Kelker-Kelly returned to the West Coast, where he took on the role of diabolical Stavros Cassadine on General Hospital. Stavros cheated death a few times, but then died for good in 2014 after being shot by Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna). In addition to being an actor, Kelker-Kelly had also been a pilot.
