General Hospital fans wondering where Hudson West has been can now cheer him on in a new film that was released this weekend.
West, who plays Jake Webber, has a lead role in the new movie The Arborist, which is in select theaters while also streaming on Amazon Prime and other digital outlets.
IMDb describes the film as “A grief-stricken arborist and her son awaken a haunting when they begin felling trees at the estate of a mysterious recluse.”
Hudson West has been away from General Hospital while Jake is in Europe
West is the son, named Wyatt, and Lucy Walters plays his mother, Ellie.
The trailer, which you can see below, shows West showing a lot of intensity, which has won him a lot of fans on General Hospital. The trailer shows that his character is the target of a spirit after helping cut down the trees, and he faces a lot of danger while she fights to save him. A promotional picture shows West with a tree branch going through his jaws.
West posted the news about the film on his Instagram account, sharing a video of the film’s writer and director, Andrew Mudge, talking about The Arborist while scenes from the film play.
“They find themselves connected to a much deeper, darker story,” Mudge said. “I was really attracted to the idea of doing something that would be very atmospheric and also grounded in what is really a classic, old-fashioned horror movie.”
Many followers of West on Instagram told him they were looking forward to seeing the movie. Several told him they were hoping he would return to General Hospital someday.
The Instragram user donsho18 said, “This movie looks really good! I’m sure your acting is stellar in this.”
The fan elenbradford4 already saw it, saying “Just watched it today! It was a great film. You are quite a talented actor :)”
Charhatchlangos added, “Now I know what I’m doing this weekend. Congratulations Hudson!!!”
The fan ashleystrife saw similarities to West and an iconic video-game character, pershaps suggesting a future role for the young adult, saying “I honestly could've sworn you look like a Legend of Zelda live action Link.”
West has played Jake Webber since 2016. He has not been on GH since 2024, when Jake left Port Charles to go to art school in Spain. On his Instagram post, fans commented that they hope he comes back to the show someday, so Jake can reunite with his mother Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and stir up romance with Charlotte (Bluesy Burke).
West has had a busy career outside of General Hospital. He had a major role in the series Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, and has appeared in series such as 9-1-1 and NCIS: Los Angeles. Also as a kid, he competed on Dancing With the Stars: Juniors.
