General Hospital star Chad Duell, who played Michael Corinthos from 2010 to 2025, has been focused on his music -- not acting. However, the actor is speaking out on a possible return to soaps and how he feels about the role of Michael being recast after he departed the show in early 2025.Started Out in Port Charles TownNelle turned Michael's life upside down in Port Charles | Image: JPI In late 2024, Duell announced on Instagram that he'd be taking a break from his Daytime Emmy-winning role of Michael. To write him off the canvas, GH had Michael get burned in a fire, and, despite General Hospital being one of the top hospitals in the world, Michael went overseas to get treatment. Duell said at the time of his departure, he was open to returning in the future. However, that became moot after the show recast the role of Michael with actor Rory Gibson (ex-Noah, The Young and the Restless). Gibson made his debut on GH in May 2025, when Michael showed up, healed from his burns, as characters often do on soaps, and scooped up his son, Wiley (Viron Weaver), in his arms, kicking off a custody war with his mother, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen). Duell recently sat down with Michael Fairman to talk about his feelings about leaving the show and being recast. "They didn't burn [Michael's] face because I told Frank Valentin [executive producer, GH, that I was] willing to come back," the actor said. Duell saw his departure as just a bit of a break. The actor (erroneously) assumed that if the show had burned Michael's face, they could have brought somebody back who looked different. "[I]f that's what their plan was," he muses. "Obviously, [the show] decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone," Duell observes. "I didn't think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it's the business. You never know what can happen." Static in the Quiet Room View this post on Instagram Instagram PostMichael has remained in the forefront of the action since Gibson arrived on the canvas. Currently, his ex-wife, Willow, is living on the Quartermaine estate, and there's speculation that there's going to be a triangle with Willow, Michael, and Serena (Kelly Kruger). Duell says that he's open to rejoining daytime in another role. "I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless," he says. "They know that if they're interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I'm doing." In the meantime, Duell has been putting out some new music, using the name "Duelly." His latest song is "Static in the Quiet Room," which is available on Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube Music.
