General Hospital alum Eva LaRue is opening up about her late brother, Louis "Louie" LaRue, who passed away suddenly at the age of 40.

In Memoriam

"I’ve been avoiding making this post," LaRue shared on Instagram in a post that is shown above, "because somehow, putting it into words makes it real. I wasn’t ready to speak about my little brother in [the] past tense.

"I’m not ready to accept that someone so full of life, with so much more life to live, is suddenly gone at only 40 years old," she continued. "I cannot wrap my head around it. I'm shattered. My beautiful brother didn’t just light up a room when he walked in -- he changed the entire energy of it for the better. That magnetic smile, that infectious joy, that incredible ability to make everyone feel like family.

"Louie was my fiercest protector and defender - he was my champion," LaRue praised. "One of the fiercest, most loyal people I’ve ever known. Through some of the darkest and scariest years of my life, he showed up for me again and again. No hesitation. No questions. Just love in action. That’s who Loo was; he was the 'ride or die' for the people he loved.

"One of the things I admired most about my brother was that he wasn’t just a dreamer, He was a doer!" LaRue proudly stated. "Things most people talk about doing their whole lives, Louie actually did. Rapper, food influencer-he made [expletive] happen with that hilarious, goofy, irresistible personality that made him the unofficial King Of Long Beach.

"Louie lived life unapologetically - He worked hard, loved hard, and played harder! And he had more quotable, funny one-liners than anyone’s favorite comedy movie," LaRue says. "The extraordinary outpouring of love from everyone who came to be by his side in the hospital, his second family at the @aulddubliner, and everyone sharing their love and memories now, has filled my heart in ways I can’t begin to express. I don’t know how to imagine a world without his incredibly infectious energy in it.

"I was so incredibly lucky to be your sister, Louie. I desperately wish I could have one more hug, one more laugh, one more moment-but I know you’re needed elsewhere- Heaven needs a new entertainment director, and you’re the best in the business," LaRue, beloved as All My Children's Maria, wrote. "And I know Dad has been waiting for you to welcome you Home. 🪽🙏🏼 I love you, Little Loo. Nothing will ever fill this huge hole in my heart. Rest in love, my beautiful brother, Until your smile is the first thing I see again 💔."

Soap Central sends sincere condolences to LaRue, her family, and Louie's loved ones and friends at this difficult time.
