General Hospital April Couples Preview: Romance and fear in Port Charles

On General Hospital, April showers may bring May flowers. But a new month is also likely to see the characters shower each other with love and affection as spring arrives in Port Charles.

Swoon has the scoop on what's coming up in April in terms of romance in Port Charles.

For starters, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) has had so many brushes with the law he’s probably got a parking spot at the courthouse with his name on it! Okay, maybe not, but the “coffee importer” has now entered an intimate relationship with Port Charles district attorney Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor).

In April, watch for the two to make a serious commitment. Does this mean the two will collude to hide some criminal act? Might Sonny ask Justine to help protect Rocco (Finn Carr), who has shot WSB director Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).

As many women have, the more Justine gets to know Sonny, the more she is intrigued by him and realizes that there are shades of gray to the mobster’s dark persona. But will she fear losing everything if she trusts Sonny?

Ric and Elizabeth: timing is everything

In April, watch for Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) and Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) to share a close moment. The two have had a long on-again/off-again relationship, and many feel that Elizabeth is too good for morally-challenged Ric. However, some people do change. Ric is making an effort to get along with his brother, Sonny (Maurice Benard). Perhaps, there’s someone good in there after all! Liz could be just the right woman to keep Ric on the right path.

Also in April, Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) and Emma Scorpio-Drake (Braedyn Bruner) have a romantic evening. ABC is the network that made its mark in daytime programming with the slogan “Love in the Afternoon.” The ABC soaps have specialized in not only love, but young love, too. That’s certainly what youngsters Gio and Emma represent.

The two took their relationship to the next level not too long ago. Emma’s been concerned with her grandmother, Anna (Finola Hughes). Gio is making inroads with his long-lost biological parents, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton). Emma and Gio have been there for each other during their respective challenges. Their romantic evening could be just what the doctor ordered!

Jordan and Curtis are together...for now

In April, watch for Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) to worry about Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper). Is Curtis concerned about Jordan's association with Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota)?

Currently, Curtis’s ex, Dr. Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr), is pregnant with Curtis’s child. Jordan thought she could have been pregnant, but she’s not. Is Jordan concerned that Curtis will reconcile with Portia because of the baby? She appears to be committed to Dr. Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson). Secrets and lies are never good for a relationship. And babies have been known to reunite couples. This dynamic could go anywhere

The spy who came in from the cold, and found warmth

Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) are unlikely lovers, but there’s clearly something going on between them. Carly knows all about helping bad boys on the run, and so she extended some aid to Valentin when he was in trouble. Jason (Steve Burton) didn’t initially approve of Carly and Valentin hooking up. Ironically, Valentin is now an ally as Carly fights to find Jason and bring him home.

In April, watch for Carly and Valentin to come to an agreement. Will Valentin help Carly with what she wants? Will Carly continue to hide Valentin from authorities, including Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna)? Carly doesn't fear much in life, but she is deeply concerned for Joss's (Eden McCoy) safety as long as she's in the WSB!
