General Hospital, Days of Our Lives star Wally Kurth checks out of The Day Players band

The Day Players, a musical group of male daytime soap stars, has announced a roster change for its upcoming tour events. The group announced that former General Hospital star Scott Reeves would replace Wally Kurth for its upcoming dates. Kurth plays Justin Kiriakis on Days of Our Lives and Ned Quartermaine on General Hospital.

The Day Players is a cover band with its four stars singing and playing instruments. They travel several times a year and have meet-and-greets with their fans after shows. Kurth has been in the band with DAYS stars Brandon Barash (ex-Stefan DiMera), Carson Boatman (Johnny DiMera), and Eric Martsolf (Brady Black). The band has shows scheduled for February 21st in Tacoma, Washington, and February 22nd in Sacramento, California. The group then has seven shows scheduled on the East Coast in the coming months.

The Day Players posted the news on social media, saying that Kurth needed to take a break from touring to focus on family time. In the statement, the group said, “Wally is fine and remains an important part of the band, with hopes of rejoining in the future.”

Also on Instagram, the band posted, “What’s great about The Day Players Band is the ability to bring in talented leading men of daytime television!! You’ll see Scott out on the road with the band for the upcoming shows, and we know how talented he is!”

Reeves filled in with the band last year, and has performed with Kurth in the past. The actor is best known for his run as Ryan McNeil on The Young and the Restless. His first soap gig was Jake on Days of our Lives. He was Dr. Steven Lars Webbber on General Hospital from 2009 to 2013, then came back briefly in 2024 as Steve picked up his mother, Heather Webber (Alley Mills) and took her out of Port Charles to Arizona.

Band of brothers

Reeves’ brothers Matt and Cole have their own music group, playing country music. Scott is their manager. They have their own live performances scheduled and original music released on Spotify and other streaming outlets.

Martsolf commented on the post, “Dayplayers second, Fathers first. We will miss Wally during this time, but are grateful to Scott Reeves for keeping the train rollin’.”
