Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) didn’t go down without making a mess of things on General Hospital. He went after Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), ran straight into Jason (Steve Burton), and turned what should’ve been contained into chaos that ended with him shot and parked in a hospital bed. Cullum is controlled, dangerous, and always one step ahead of whatever room he’s in -- which is why what Andrew Hawkes shared this week feels like it came from out of nowhere.

A General Hospital villain takes a break from chaos

Hawkes shared a video on Instagram with the caption “#generalhospital #rosscullum #andrewhawkes #gh #daytimetv,” and in it, he kept things disarmingly simple. Sitting in a hot tub, he smiled at the camera and said, “I’m relaxing in the hot tub… I’m in a super secret location called Scottsdale… I’m visiting my 90-year-old aunt here and my cousin… so this is how I’m spending my break.” It’s not exactly the energy of a man who just terrorized Port Charles.

The comments didn’t take long to roll in, and they leaned hard into that contrast. @bri153443 wrote, “Aww, love seeing the sweet actor behind the villain character. Ur very wholesome, have a great vacation!” while @kimhaddad30 added, “Seeing you like this just shows what a great actor you are. I can’t imagine Cullum laughing and hanging with his kids. Enjoy your Spring Break.”

Others had a little more fun with it. @take2radio hilariously joked, “You have to relax after getting pew pewed,” and @aristotledumas chimed in with, “That’s not Cullum, that’s his normal twin,” which, honestly, feels like a pitch the show might actually consider. (Why doesn’t Lucas (Van Hansis) suspect Cullm killed Marco (Arian Anchondo)?)

Fans aren’t separating the actor from the chaos just yet

Even with Hawkes clearly off the clock, viewers are still very much locked into Cullum mode. @kallyee30 kept it simple with, “Evil Cullum strikes again,” while @cutegayinakron dropped, “Yas daddy cullum,” proving the character’s grip isn’t loosening anytime soon.

There’s also that growing appreciation for the performance itself. @jasonanderic wrote, “Absolutely LOVE watching you on GH!!!! You are such an amazing actor!” and @melissajstaats added, “You’re such a cool guy. I really enjoy seeing you on the show.” It’s less about separating the two and more about recognizing how convincingly he blurs the line.

And then there’s the inevitable soap brain kicking in. @kimberlycandycain suggested, “Who else thinks we need a nice twin?” because, of course, he does. On a show where death is flexible and doubles are practically tradition, one relaxing hot tub video is all it takes to start rewriting the rules again. (Find out how Hawkes previously showed fans he’s nothing like Cullum.)
