General Hospital's Finola Hughes unpacks the Anna and Faison 'reunion'

General Hospital's Anna Devane had to keep herself in check and tell herself that she wasn't losing her mind when she had an entire conversation with Cesar Faison on the January 19, 2026, episode. For Finola Hughes, the scenes were a reunion of sorts, but not in the way that you'd think.

Anders Hove returns to General Hospital as Faison

Yes, Faison's brain was seen in a jar sitting on Kevin's (Jon Lindstrom) desk in 2018, but as the voice told Anna today, that could have been anyone's brain. Still, it seems that Pascal (Marc Forget) is trying to drive Anna insane — and it's working, all thanks to Anders Hove's return to GH that isn't really a return at all.

When Hove last appeared on our General Hospital screens, he had just shot his own son before being shot himself. Faison died, and it was later revealed that he also had Huntington's Disease, meaning the bullet wasn't the only thing that did him in.

Eight years later, Hove made his GH return, but only via his voice. The actor recorded the scenes from his home in Amsterdam and Hughes could hear her good friend on the soundstage, so she could converse with Anna's worst nightmare from her Wyndemere prison.

Hughes and Hove have kept in touch through the years, with Hughes visiting with him and the late Tony Geary (ex-Luke Spencer) in Amsterdam in 2024. While the stars did not perform the scenes together, Hove did text Hughes to discuss the scenes, which she described to Digest as "nuts."

"They played it to the [studio] floor," Hughes told Soap Opera Digest of Hove's recording. "[It felt like] I was working with him, except he was in Europe and prerecorded it!"

Hove and Hughes have been working together on and off since 1990, when Faison first appeared on the Port Charles scene as the deranged villain who had been obsessed with Anna since childhood. He was responsible for her presumed death, as well as so many other horrible moments in Anna's life. Faison was so obsessed with Anna that he once donned a Duke (Ian Buchanan) mask, making Anna believe he was her late husband.

Now, Anna is locked in Wyndemere, having no idea she is so close to the Port Charles mainland. And someone is trying to make her believe that Faison is still alive. Or is he really alive and we will see Hove on-screen soon? Time will tell...
