Before he spent years singing on stage, solving crimes in Hallmark towns, or wobbling around television as a giant eggplant, Jack Wagner was Frisco Jones on General Hospital, one of the show’s most memorable heartthrobs. Frisco’s adventures in Port Charles helped turn Wagner into a soap icon, but the actor has lived a lot of life since those days.

Years of relationships, career peaks, personal heartbreak, and second chances eventually led Wagner to marry singer Michelle Wolf in 2025. When he talks about what all those experiences taught him about love, his answer is surprisingly simple.

Wagner spoke with Fox News about how relationships change over time and why his perspective now looks very different from what it was when he was younger. At 66, he said the biggest lesson he's learned about marriage is to give the other person space to be themselves.

“Let the other person really be who they are, and if there's a problem, conflict-resolving tools are the key to a marriage,” Wagner explained. The advice may sound simple, but Wagner said it took decades of life experience before he really understood it.

He added that arguments often escalate because people feel the need to respond immediately. Instead, Wagner believes stepping back can defuse a situation before it grows larger than it needs to be. “If there is a problem, take a little – just let it go,” he said, noting that sometimes a little space and silence allow emotions to cool naturally. Why space actually helps

Wagner also discussed the living arrangement he and Wolf decided on after their wedding. Early headlines indicated they lived in separate homes, but Wagner clarified that the situation is more flexible than that.

In a practical decision, the couple kept their individual houses and moved between them based on their schedules and work commitments. Wolf has a place in Malibu, while Wagner spends much of his time closer to Los Angeles. The arrangement allows them to maintain routines that already worked during their years of dating.

“We've kept our homes,” Wagner said. “And so we just go back and forth.” For him, the setup isn’t about distance but balance. Later in life, Wagner believes couples can sometimes build stronger relationships by creating space for independence alongside companionship.

He also notices a difference in how love feels now compared to earlier parts of his life. As he put it, “You just kind of get a little wiser, I hope, as you get older.” (Catch the details about Wagner’s wedding in 2025.)
