Kelly Monaco: General Hospital’s Kelly Monaco Has Reached an Incredible Milestone Six Months in the Making

General Hospital star Kelly Monaco has been gone from Port Charles for almost two years now, but the actress is still a beloved fan favorite. She stays in touch with her fans sporadically through social media, and now she's revealing some huge, personal news.

Kelly Monaco Is Doing Great!

Monaco posted on Instagram that she's been sober now for 6 months and 7 days. "Now the whole 6/7 thing makes sense! #duces 🙏🏻😇❤️," the actress quipped, referencing a trend where young people say "six, seven," which means, well, it kind of means nothing. The "six, seven" saying has no fixed definition. (Perhaps it's a new generation's version of Seinfeld, the sitcom that was about, well, nothing!)

While "six, seven" may not have a specific meaning, the fact that Monaco has been sober for six months and seven days is quite significant to her. She's received congratulatory messages from GH daytime pals.

Ingo Rademacher (ex-Jax), who worked with Monaco when she first joined GH, posted emojis of a high five, applause, and a heart. Brandon Barash (ex-Johnny) wrote: "Love this. Congrats! 👏👏👏

"Congratulations," posted @fallenangel8212. "I know that is a big step! I wish you great health & happiness on this new journey. Sending love and hugs 🫶🏻🤗. I myself am 345 days sober, so I know the struggle. Remember One day at a time."

Monaco's Daytime Journey

Monaco made the daytime scene of Livvie on Port Charles. She was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for her performance on that show in 2003. She also made headlines as the inaugural winner of Dancing With the Stars when the popular dance competition reality series made its debut. Monaco was nominated for playing Sam on GH in 2006.

After Port Charles ended, Monaco brought con artist Sam McCall to GH. Sam's love interests included Jax, Sonny (Maurice Benard), Jason (Steve Burton), Patrick (Jason Thompson), and Drew (Billy Miller; Cameron Mathison).

The writers tied Sam to the canvas on a greater level by revealing that she was the long-lost daughter of Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Julian Jerome (Will deVry).

When Sam found out that she was an organ match for a dying Lulu (Alexa Havins), she agreed to be a donor. Sam survived the operation, but was killed by Cyrus (Jeff Kober) while she was recovering.

Grahn gave a tour de force when Alexis learned that her daughter had died, raging at the unfairness of it all. She won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for scenes in which Alexis reacted to her daughter's passing.
