General Hospital’s Kelly Thiebaud spoofs an ’80s VHS dating profile — and nails every detail

General Hospital hasn’t exactly been going easy on Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) lately. She’s trapped by Cullum (Adam Hawkes), Sidwell (Carlo Rota), and Marco (Adrian Anchondo), her medication rationed like leverage, her stability treated as something negotiable. Offscreen, Kelly Thiebaud is doing something very different. And on Valentine’s Day, she shared a video that reminded everyone that Britt’s icy composure has always been powered by an actress with impeccable comic instincts.

General Hospital’s Kelly Thiebaud channels an ’80s dating candidate

“I hope Ronnie found her a fun guy to take her out to restaurants. Happy Valentine's Day! 💗 @vhsdates #dating #comedy,” Thiebaud wrote on Instagram. In the attached video, she wore a busy floral blouse with a high collar and bow, the kind of pattern that feels pulled straight from a forgotten department store rack from 1988. “Why should you date me? Because I am the opposite of your mother,” she hilariously states, selling it. “I’m fun. I’m fun and crazy and wild, and we’re gonna have fun together. Let’s go party.”

The commitment never wavers. She brags, “I’m a senior beauty consultant with Mary Kay, so I host a ton of house parties,” before casually confessing, “Fine, I’m needy.” Her biggest fear arrives in one breathless spiral: “Growing old and boring… sitting on this big ugly couch eating hot dogs and mac and cheese and just catatonic watching something on the television.” The punchline lands with eerie cheerfulness. “I’m a horrible cook, but I’m great at being a guest at a restaurant.”

It turns out, she wasn’t spoofing Ronnie, the GH character brought to life by soap legend Erika Slezak. It was a candidate from an old VHS dating tape named Ronnie, who then appeared. She wore a purple-and-blue striped blouse with a bow at the neck, her feathered hair and careful smile reflecting the moment she was living in, not recreating. (Find out how Britt was moving pieces off the board to protect herself.)

Castmates and fans immediately recognize the brilliance

The real tape, digitized from a long-defunct video dating service, shows Ronnie delivering the same lines with earnest conviction. The tapes were discovered in a downtown Los Angeles basement and later preserved by a production company, which converted the analog recordings to digital. Created in Van Nuys sometime between the mid-’80s and early ’90s, the service offered singles a chance to present themselves on camera.

Thiebaud doesn’t just parody Ronnie. She mirrors her. Every cadence, every nervous laugh, every flicker of confidence trying to outrun loneliness. Her GH co-stars recognized it instantly. Carlo Rota (Sidwell) joked, “What are you drinking? And can I have some?” Finn Carr (Rocco) wrote, “Nailed it!” and Braedyn Bruner (Emma) hilariously admitted, “Thanks for making me pee my pants.”

Fans saw the same thing, as one viewer wrote, “You nailed it!!! I knew exactly which one you recreated.” Another follower called it “pure gold,” while someone else admitted, “I thought it was amusing when I only saw you and then I saw her, and yours was even more entertaining.” Others zeroed in on the details, with one fan writing, “That laugh is KILLIN me!” and another simply declaring, “You crack me up!!!!!!” (Did GH give us the team up we didn’t know we needed?)

General Hospital is available on ABC and Hulu.
