Maurice Benard has spent years playing Sonny Corinthos on-screen on General Hospital. Offscreen, he’s built State of Mind into a place where conversations don’t need polishing to matter. Recently, he went online to talk about what was coming next, clearly enjoying the lineup.General Hospital leads the guest list View this post on Instagram Instagram PostOn Instagram, Benard shared a video and wrote, Maurice Benard with the caption,“I love doing this YouTube live, I believe the best one I’ve done. A lot of mental health. Go check it out. I will be doing them periodically. Coming Sunday @mbstateofmind 10 am pst @joshswickard and 101-year-old grandfather art. Turning 102 in February.”In the video, he excitedly rattled through the guest list, naming GH’s Kelly Thiebaud (Britt) as coming up. Along with that, he’s having another co-star, Josh Swickard (Chase), and his grandfather, Art.He also shockingly mentioned a must-see guest, veteran actor Clancy Brown, from Highlander and The Shawshank Redemption, among many other films. Benard also had the strange pleasure of realizing Brown is the voice of Mr. Krabs on SpongeBob SquarePants, and did his best impersonation of the character. Always looking forward to seeing your show and guests.”Others leaned into familiarity rather than hype. @pbradley60 shared, “Love you Maurice, watched since you were a youngin!! Better lookin with age!!” and @rosepeddle62 added, “Always watch State of Mind. Get a lot from it.”A few zeroed in on the grandfather story immediately as @truelylani wrote, “I love the grandpa that’s 101. My Nana is 105, and I want to be just like her when I grow up.” Meanwhile, @sscott2205 joked, “Think we can leave Mr Krabs to the professionals.”What stood out wasn’t the size of the guest list, but the shape of it. Benard wasn’t curating prestige or chasing headlines. He was following curiosity, family, long conversations, and whatever felt honest enough to sit with. That’s usually when State of Mind works best, when it sounds like someone you trust saying, “Come listen to this with me, I think it’s worth your time.” (Find out some of Benard’s dream guests.)General Hospital can be seen weekdays on ABC and Hulu.
