On General Hospital, Cassius Faison has been taking over his late twin brother Nathan’s life ever since he arrived in Port Charles last fall. He has made everyone believe that he is Nathan with no memory of where he has been for the previous seven years since Nathan’s death.

Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins) is especially taken with "Nathan" since his return. As their relationship grows deeper, the mysterious fourth child of Cesar Faison knows he is betraying Lulu by hiding his true identity. But at the moment, he has decided it’s worth the risk.

Cassius made that clear on the April 24th episode of GH when his sister, Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), urged him to break up with Lulu before they got even closer. Britt told Cassius that Lulu would be shattered when she finds out the truth. It’s a risk he’s willing to take because Cassius is enjoying his new identity and the love everyone has for Nathan.

“Whatever nefarious reasons he may have had for coming to Port Charles, I do think that the care that you see between Cassius and Lulu is legitimate and strong,” Paevey told Soap Opera Digest.

Paevey said that Cassius had no plans for falling in love with anyone, especially the best friend of Nathan’s wife, Maxie (Kirsten Storms). Paevey said that his feelings for Lulu completely took him by surprise. But Paevey maintains they’re real, even as Cassius knows he is deceiving Lulu and living a lie.

Paevey believes that while Cassius is knee deep in the dangerous cold fusion project, he has a lot more in common with Nathan than just their looks. He feels that Nathan’s twin has been corrupted by spending a lot of time growing up with their devious father, Cesar Faison (Anders Hove).

“I don’t think that Cassius is a bad guy,” Paevey said. “Cassius is kind of like the wounded twin, so to speak. The affection that he’s felt since he’s gotten to Port Charles, I don’t know that Cassius has ever experienced any of that before.”

Cassius needs love

That affection comes from all of Nathan’s friends and loved ones, especially Nathan’s son James (Gary James Fuller) and Maxie’s branch of the family. Cassius has also dedicated himself to doing a good job in Nathan’s place as Port Charles police detective, putting in full days and skilled investigative work. He has rebuilt Nathan’s friendships with colleagues Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) and Chase (Josh Swickard).

Cassius is showing his good side by protecting Lulu’s son, Rocco (Finn Carr), and concealing the fact that he shot WSB Director Cullum (Andrew Hawkes), which could be extremely risky to Cassius if Cullum finds that out.

Paevey feels that Cassius needs those connections and doesn’t want to lose them. Especially Lulu, who Cassius knows only loves him because she thinks he’s Nathan. Paevey said Cassius will continue to take these risks as long as possible.
