General Hospital actor Adrian Anchondo, formerly Marco Rios, is mourning the loss of his beloved dog, Mochi. The actor has dealt with his grief by composing a beautiful poem that honors his four-legged pal.

Man's Best Friend

"Mochi passed away in my arms on Thursday," Anchondo shared in an Instagram post, which can be seen above, "around 2 pm, five minutes before the vet came to our home to put him to sleep. It was as if he decided after the vet visit earlier in the day that he didn’t want anyone else involved.

"He stared into my eyes the entire time as I told him over and over how much I loved him and promised him I would be okay," the actor continued. "After a couple of minutes, his body seized a few times, and he drew his last breath.

"I’ve experienced a lot of loss in my life," Anchondo revealed, "but nothing could prepare me for this. It was horrible and beautiful at the same time. Mochi was my best friend for 12 years and the closest thing I may ever have to a son.

"Thank you to everyone who loved him, and took care of him, and for all the love you’ve shown me through this," the former GH performer added. "Thank you @littlecolton [Colton Little, Andrew, Days of our Lives] for holding me through it all. I will try my best to keep my promise to my little Mochi and be okay. ❤️."

"Pull" at Your Heartstrings

Anchondo composed a poem, Pull, in honor of Mochi.

"Forgive me

I didn’t mean to yell at you when you would pull

I wasn’t angry with you, I was worried

I didn’t want to cut the breath from your excited lungs

I couldn’t believe the strength you had

dragging a 175-pound man

I couldn’t believe the strength you had

carrying a crying man

through many heartbreaks

through many deaths

through a time when the world shut down

and it was just you and I

snoring and playing and laughing and cuddling

12 years of all this

but towards the end,

when the leash got looser and looser

and you walked by my side

and then behind me

and then you could barely walk at all

and it was my turn to carry you

your hair turned gray faster than mine

and you stopped rolling over when I would come home

wiggling and waiting for belly rubs

all of these things stopped,

and I knew I had to let go of your leash

oh how I would give anything to feel that tugging again

forgive me for not realizing that you weren’t just pulling,

you were taking me on new adventures

you were taking me to smell all the flowers

to eat all the delicious things in our path

to see the world the way you did

you wanted me to live life to the fullest

and with you I did

goodbye my silly, stinky, funny little boy.

thank you for showing me how deeply I am able to love.

Little posted an image on his Instagram Stories, which can be seen above, about how proud he was of his boyfriend for the strength he displayed during this emotional time.

"It's been a tough week," Little wrote. "Mochi started to go on a new adventure Thursday after a long health battle. Seeing @javichondo be strong, yet vulnerable, through this has made me love him even more. I'm going to miss this little stinky muppet."

Soap Central sends deep condolences to Anchondo at this difficult time.
