Bennett will debut sometime in May as a character named Joe Fitzpatrick. It’s unclear how Joe will fit into the canvas, but indications are it will be more than a cameo appearance.

In an interview with People, he said it is a "really fun character," and he is excited to get back to his daytime roots. Bennett played J.R. Chandler on All My Children from 2001 to 2002. He is an accomplished actor in multiple genres and is also a reality TV host.

Bennett and his reality competition series, Finding Mr. Christmas, are nominated at the upcoming Critics Choice Real TV Awards. The series, which debuted in 2024, features contestants competing in a series of holiday-themed challenges to become the next Hallmark leading man.

The Critics Choice Association revealed the nominees for the awards, which recognize excellence in nonfiction, unscripted and reality programming across broadcast, cable and streaming platforms. Winners will be announced online on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 12 p.m. Eastern time, 9 a.m. Pacific.

The show is nominated for Best Competition Series alongside the long-running, iconic heavyweights RuPaul’s Drag Race, Top Chef, and Survivor. It is also nominated for Best Ensemble Cast in an Unscripted Series, and Bennett is nominated for Best Show Host, alongside big names Alan Cumming – The Traitors (Peacock); Kristen Kish – Top Chef (Bravo); Padma Lakshmi – America’s Culinary Cup (CBS); Joel McHale – House of Villains (Peacock) and RuPaul – RuPaul’s Drag Race (MTV).

Christmas all year round

Bennett shared the news on his Instagram account, reacting, “3 @criticschoice Nominations! I’m so proud of the FINDING MR CHRISTMAS, and to be in the company of all the legends in all these categories is so surreal! Congrats to @hallmarkchannel and to our nominated cast and nominated show, and everyone who made this magical show possible. This is crazy! This gives FMC 6 Critics Choice nominations in 2 years. Not bad for a little show on Hallmark Channel. What are your thoughts on our show?”

Several General Hospital costars liked the post, and Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) commented, “Yeah buddy!!!”

Bennett landed a major role in 2004 with a starring nod in the iconic movie Mean Girls. He has been a productive actor on Broadway and in numerous Hallmark flicks, plus major comedies such as Cheaper by the Dozen 2 and the title role in Van Wilder: Freshman Year. He also hosts the Food Network series Halloween Wars.
